As part of its preparations for the LCS in 2023, the North American organization FlyQuest has acquired two new players from the LCK.

The North American team FlyQuest, which has spent the majority of its time as the LCS’s tenacious underdogs, is ushering in the new year with an interesting lineup. The organization has acquired two of Korea’s top League of Legends prospects, former Liiv SANDBOX member Lee “Prince” Chae-hwan and KT Rolster upstart Lee “VicLa” Dae-kwang. The 22-year-old marksman, who was most instrumental to Liiv SANDBOX’s success in the LCK, received a few MVP votes at the end of the season and ultimately shared the Player of the Split trophy with Gen.G’s AD carry Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk.

After spending a brief period with the Korean organization and having some success in regional events, the AD Carry Prince is now making a move to North America. SANDBOX was also on the edge of qualifying for the 2022 Worlds but dropped both of his matches against DAMWON Gaming and DRX in the Regional Finals. The 22-year-old even had a brief time with FunPlus Phoenix in the LPL before settling in as SANDBOX’s AD Carry in 2021. In the 2022 LCS, Prince showed promising performance, making him one of the fastest-rising players in Korea.

Meanwhile, VicLa, a former KT Rolster upstart, has been one of the most explosive Korean upstarts of recent years. After spending the previous two years in the region’s tier-two competition, the 23-year-old VicLa is now receiving the chance to debut in the LCS. With the help of notable Korean League players including renowned mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, and iconic AD Carry Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu, he even took home the league’s Rookie of the Year trophy. He was promoted by KT Rolster this year from their Challengers team, and they were just a couple of games away from qualifying for 2022 Worlds.

FlyQuest appears set for the 2023 season

The two arrivals will be playing alongside Bill “Eyla” Nguyen, who has been among the top Academy players in NA for the past few seasons. According to League stats aggregator Oracle’s Elixir, Eyla topped both the Academy and LCS Proving Grounds this past summer with the most assists of any player in both competitions. The two new recruits will strengthen FlyQuest’s rebuilt lineup for the coming season as they strive to finally join the elite ranks of North America’s best teams. After almost four years in a TSM jersey, Mingyi “Spica” Lu is also reportedly making the jump to FlyQuest according to a report from Brieuc “LEC Wooloo” Seeger. As of now, FlyQuest also seemed to have reached a verbal agreement with former TSM superstar Spica as he is only awaiting a signature to officially join.
