With the start of the new year, many organizations in the Overwatch League have begun to put together their lineups for the 2023 season. Many of these organizations have competed with each other to acquire the services of different coveted players who are in free agency.

Recall that many teams decided to part with all their players in the offseason, so there was a large pool of candidates for the 2023 season.

Florida Mayhem finally announces its lineup

After several weeks of keeping their fans in anticipation by releasing blurry names in the background of various announcements, the West Region organization, Florida Mayhem, has decided to lift the curtain and unveil their signings for the 2023 OWL.

The West Region organization, Florida Mayhem, has decided to lift the curtain and unveil its signings for the 2023 OWL.

Finnish 18-year-old DPS player Paavo “Sauna” Ulmanen and former Toronto Defiant Support Sung “CH0R0NG” Yoo-min are joining the Mayhem for the 2023 season.

Head coach Jordan “Gunba” Graham, and assistant coach Caleb “McGravy” McGarvey, will return to the Florida Mayhem for the 2023 season. Until now, they have been the team’s only two head coaches.

About CH0R0NG

CH0R0NG’s name may be familiar to Overwatch League fans, as he has been on the competitive scene since 2019 when he played under the GZA banner.

After moving through several teams between 2019 and 2020, CH0R0NG joined Talon Esports, his first Esports organization. The player remained with the team until October 2021, when his signing with Toronto Defiant was made official.

In Toronto Defiant, we witnessed the tremendous defensive level that CH0R0NG has, so he became known as one of the best Supports of the OWL.

About Sauna

On the other hand, Sauna may not be very recognizable to Overwatch League fans.

This young DPS has been part of the competitive European scene in the contender’s series for the past two years. Sauna has played for teams like Shu’s Money Crew EU and Young and Beautiful.

This will be the first time we see Sauna in the big leagues of Overwatch, but many good things are expected from a young and, above all, talented player.

About Florida Mayhem

CH0R0NG and Sauna now complete a Florida roster, one of the few OWL organizations to retain several players from the 2022 season. So, Ham “Someone” Jeong-wan, Baek “Checkmate” Seung-hun, and Rupal Zaman will return to play for the Mayhem in the 2023 Overwatch League.

Earlier in the offseason, Florida Mayhem acquired the services of Choi “Mer1t” Tae-min from the Houston Outlaws in a cash trade.

There is no doubt that, despite Florida’s lack of outstanding results in 2022, the roster exceeded expectations. In addition, the mix of veterans and rookies of various nationalities gave the team a very nice touch.

They posted a 12-12 record in the regular season and won several games in the postseason before being eliminated by the Hangzhou Spark.
