FIFA 23: World Cup mode for Ultimate Team in “early access”

A mix of simple and game-changing mistakes marked the first few weeks of FIFA 23, as EA Sports always seems to misstep somehow. The recent FIFA 23 FUT bug allows players to play World Cup mode a month earlier.

So far, it hasn’t been a smooth start for FIFA 23. After the game was accidentally released at the end of August, some Xbox One users were able to play it a month before the originally planned release.

EA accidentally enables FIFA 23 World Cup mode

On October 9, a FUT Heroes pack with 25,000 tradable players caused huge market losses while also bringing huge profits to a few lucky players. Just two days later, EA swapped Rodrigo and Harrison’s faces in the new Dynamic Duo SBC, used the Napoli badge without licensing rights, and gave out improper rewards for the pre-season event.

To make matters worse, EA unintentionally allowed some Playstation users to access the World Cup mode. To point out the issue, FIFA YouTuber FUT Mentor shared a video of him accessing the FIFA 23 World Cup mode.

None of the menu options work, but players can get a first look at the mode’s UI and the new color scheme. As with any other game exploit, we do not recommend trying this yourself without knowing the risks involved.

Furthermore, a leak revealed details of FIFA 23’s World Cup mode, including licensing rights for each World Cup stadium and new World Cup-themed Ultimate Team special cards.

This marks the first time since FIFA 18, that EA announced a World Cup mode for the franchise. The 2022 FIFA World Cup begins on November 20 in Qatar.

When is the planned release?

The World Cup update will likely come in the form of free DLC and will also include a second World Cup mode, the FIFA Women’s World Cup, to be played in New Zealand and Australia in July 2023.

EA hasn’t officially commented on its plans regarding the game mode, but it’s likely to be released shortly before or after November 20 when the 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off in Qatar.

Meanwhile, in Tournament Creator mode, players can create their own competitions and host a tournament with their friends until the official World Cup mode is released.

If you are not yet completely satisfied with the composition of your FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, you can find out here in the guide what you can improve. After all the bugs like the Hero Pack bug and the problems with Lengthy players, hopefully, the game will run smoother in the next few weeks.
