FaZe Clan and NAVI face off in PGL Major Antwerp final

The Grand Final of the PGL Major Antwerp has arrived. FaZe Clan will take on NAVI for a guaranteed place in the BLAST Premier World Final, and $500,000.

After one of the most memorable tournaments in Counter-Strike history, the PGL Major Antwerp is finally set to come to an end. FaZe Clan will take on NAVI for the chance to be crowned Major champions.

FaZe Clan

The iconic FaZe Clan has been having a fantastic 2022. With three titles already secured, the team is ready to truly etch their name into the highest echelon of CS:GO history. They entered this Major ready to compete and their ultra-talented roster has been demonstrating what they are capable of. A loss to ENCE in the first match of the Legends Stage is the only blemish on an otherwise phenomonal tournament run. FaZe reached the Grand Final at the expense of the underdog Team Spirit, who they swept in the semifinals.

However, this will also prove to be relatively new territory for the team. While one of the most-decorated orgs in CS:GO, this is just FaZe’s second appearnce in the final of a recognized Major. They have not been in this position since losing to Cloud9 at the ELeague Major: Boston in 2018.

NAVI

It’s hard to overstate how synonymous Natus Vincere is with CS:GO. They appear in their fifth Major final, joining Ninjas in Pyjamas as the only teams to reach that mark. However, it is fair to say that the PGL Major Antwerp has been something of a bounce back for NAVI. After a dominant 2021, including a win at the PGL Major Stockholm, NAVI have failed to finish higher than third in their first tournaments of 2022. That included qualifying fourth in their Regional Ranking tournament for this Major. That said, they have absolutely shown why they are to be feared and respected. Going 3-0 in the Legends Stage, they survived a scare against Heroic in the quarterfinals before sweeping ENCE to reach the Grand Final. NAVI is a team that can never be underestimated or counted out.

Karrigan vs s1mple

The matchup that will likely define the Grand Final, and the one that every fan has their eye on, will be FaZe Clan’s Finn “karrigan” Andersen against NAVI’s Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev. Both are undisputed legends in the Counter-Strike community and this final represents very different things for the both of them. For karrigan, the only trophy that eludes him is that from a Major. Meanwhile, s1mple seeks his second Major title and the chance to further cement his legacy as one of Counter-Strike’s GOATs.

The teams have split their two meetings in 2022. This, their meeting of the year, will have the biggest stakes yet.

The PGL Major Antwerp Grand Final is set to begin at 1900 BST/2000 CEST.
