During every League of Legends off-season, there are a lot of rumors about player signings. Every year teams look to sign the best players; however, there is one player that many teams wish to have on their roster.

During the off-season, there are always assumptions about the renewal or departure of this coveted player. But many times, those rumors come to nothing.

We are not referring to the most coveted and well-known esports player in the world, the Demon King. Instead, today we will talk about rumors of offers from some teams to Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok.

Rumors about different offers to Faker

Faker, after suffering one of the toughest defeats of his entire career in which he lost the finals of the World Championships against T1; the player had allegedly started to consider some offers he had received.

According to some rumors, Faker attracted interest from teams such as Team Liquid, T1, LNG Esports, FlyQuest, and Weibo Gaming.

However, offers from Chinese teams, Weibo Gaming, and LNG Esports were not attractive to Korean players. However, the offers from the North American teams were much more attractive to the player. These offers were apparently being debated until the last minute.

According to information from sources close to LoL esports, FlyQuest would have offered Faker an annual salary between 3 to 5 million dollars. However, these same sources assure that the offer made by Team Liquid was higher than FlyQuest’s, so the Korean player studied the possibility of joining Team Liquid’s staff.

Apparently, Team Liquid’s organization planned to include several Korean players in the roster if Faker accepted the offer to play in the North American LoL League.

On the other hand, it was also rumored that Team Liquid’s offer to Faker was comparable to the Korean player’s current contract with T1.

It is important to note that it is currently a bit more complicated for esports organizations to outbid players. But first, let’s remember that the esports industry is currently in a financial crisis that has affected many organizations.

Faker decides to stay at T1

T1 was always eager for the Korean player to stay in their squad, so they also made an offer to the player. Recall that Faker has been a member of T1 since 2013; moreover, since 2020, the player has been the owner of a part of the organization he plays.

However, T1 saw that the player was considering some offers; the team also started looking for possible replacements for Faker. Apparently T1 was in talks with Lee “Scout” Ye-chan, a current member of LNG Esports. So, if Faker accepted any of the proposals, Scout would probably be the midlaner’s replacement for this season. However, Faker ultimately opted to remain with his current organization for three more years.
