FaZe Clan arrive as the reigning Call of Duty League champions after defeating OpTic Gaming 5-2 in July’s Championship Grand Final. OpTic will attempt to defend the EWC title it won in 2025, while 100 Thieves, Team Falcons and Gentle Mates lead the strongest group of challengers.
The event runs from August 5 to 9 and combines established CDL organisations with teams that reached Paris through qualification routes.
FaZe Arrive as the Team to Beat
FaZe enter the tournament with the strongest recent result in professional Call of Duty. Their CDL Championship victory ended OpTic’s attempt to win a third consecutive title and confirmed the roster’s ability to perform under the greatest pressure.
Chris “Simp” Lehr was named Championship MVP after recording a 1.11 K/D ratio across 19 maps. His aggressive SMG play created space for the rest of FaZe and repeatedly disrupted opponents before they could establish control.
FaZe’s main strengths heading into EWC include:

Team Falcons produced one of the biggest surprises at the CDL Championship. A late roster change brought Mohammed “Alluka” Bindal into the lineup for his CDL debut, replacing Amer “Pred” Zulbeari.
Alluka responded with a 1.12 K/D as Falcons reached third place, their best LAN result since entering the league. The team now needs to show that the run was sustainable rather than a one-event surge.

Joe “JoeDeceives” Romero joined the roster in June and added another aggressive option. The team’s top-four Championship finish showed that it can challenge the leading North American organisations over a full tournament.
The Format Leaves Room for Surprises
The EWC field includes a mixture of CDL teams and qualified challengers. FaZe, OpTic and 100 Thieves carry the greatest expectations, but Call of Duty series can change quickly through close Search and Destroy rounds or one-sided Hardpoint rotations.
Black Ops 7 competition uses Hardpoint, Search and Destroy and Overload. Teams must therefore combine mechanical speed with disciplined objective play and strong preparation across several modes.
