Evil Geniuses Announce Danny as Deftly Replacement Ahead of Summer Split

Ahead of the LCS Summer Split 2021, Evil Geniuses are set to make roster changes, the first of which is ADC Matthew “Deftly” Chen being replaced by Kyle “Danny” Sakamaki. Danny will make the step up from the Evil Geniuses amateur lineup, Evil Geniuses Prodigies. The teenager will now make his first Split appearance this summer. Evil Geniuses finished 5th-6th at the LCS Spring 2021, prompting such a change.

How Evil Geniuses Announced Danny’s Promotion

Speaking on the announcement, Evil Geniuses posted the following message from Greg Kim, Director of Esports, on their official site:

“Entering our second season back in the LCS, we decided to expand our competitive priorities as a League of Legends franchise, and reform our approach to talent development. To do this, we built out additional infrastructure in our coaching systems, re-tooled the direction of our Academy program, and expanded into the amateur scene with EG Prodigies.”

 

“We were delighted to see both of our developmental squads make it to the top six in Proving Grounds, but more importantly, we saw our players make good progress in their growth. Heading into Summer, we look forward to continuing our evolution with some changes to our rosters.”

Danny, formerly known as Shiro, helped the Evil Geniuses Prodigies team in recording a fifth place finish at the League of Legends LCS Proving Grounds, however it remains to be seen as to how the American will make the step up to the LCS, where he will compete against the best players in the region.

Who Else Makes Up the Evil Geniuses League of Legends Roster

Having been promoted to the Evil Geniuses main roster, Danny will compete alongside Top Jeong “Impact” Eon-young, Jungle Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen, Mid Daniele “jiizuke” di Mauro and Support Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun. Fans will be keen to see how Danny will fare for Evil Geniuses, however the experience around him will certainly be beneficial.
Meanwhile, the Evil Geniuses Prodigies lineup is made up by Zheng “Tony Top” Fen, Juan “Contractz” Arturo Garcia, Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun, Luke “TeamLuke” Wasikowski and Patryk “Mystiques” Piorkowski.
