Everything you need to know about the CDL 2023 Stage 5 Major

We are just a few hours away from the start of the fifth Major of the Call of Duty League 2023 season, and all teams know that this is the last chance they have to qualify for the CDL Championship 2023.

On the other hand, it’s also worth noting that there has yet to be a repeat champion team in the four Majors we’ve enjoyed so far. So, we are eager to see if that trend will continue or if some of the four teams that have won a Major this season will manage to repeat.

Also, this will be OpTic Texas’ last chance to complete the feat of winning the main event. As we know, OpTic is the only team in the history of the CDL to win two consecutive online qualifiers with a 5-0 record. So now, we will see if the team can finally become tournament champions.

Call of Duty League 2023 Major V – Details

The Toronto Ultra hosts the CDL 2023 Major V and will be played starting next Thursday, May 25, 2023. While it is true that in Major IV, LA Thieves had the surprise of becoming champions of the tournament, the team’s performance in the qualifiers for Major V was disappointing. Besides the local team, the Ultra, the main contenders are undoubtedly the guys from OpTic Texas.

There is no doubt that this Major V will be one of the most exciting of the season, as teams will be fighting from the beginning for a place in the next CDL Championship 2023, where the best eight teams will face each other.

Format

As the Majors played throughout the season, Major V will have a Double Elimination format, where the teams that finished in the TOP 8 in the online qualifiers will start from the Winners Bracket. On the other hand, those from 9-12 will start from the Elimination Brackets with only one chance to advance in the tournament.

All matches to be played in both Brackets are best-of-five (BO5) except for the Grand Final match, which is best-of-seven (BO7).

Schedule

As we mentioned, this weekend will be played the last Major of the 2023 CDL season, Major V, starts with matches next Thursday, May 25, until the grand final, which will be played on Sunday night.

As mentioned, the teams set to take center stage in this Major V are OpTic Texas, Atlanta FaZe, and the home side, Toronto Ultra. However, if the trend continues with a new champion in each Major, the guys from OpTic would be the ones to lift the champions trophy.
