Event Format and Structure
The OWCS Stage 2 Midseason Championship uses a competitive format intended to put the best Overwatch 2 teams in the world on display. Specifically, the competition starts with the Group Stage, which takes place on July 31-August 1, 2025, and consists of 16 teams in 4 groups.
Moreover, each group follows a GSL-style double-elimination bracket. Initially, the first set of matches determines the winners’ match, and the top team will move on to the playoffs from the winners’ bracket. Meanwhile, teams eliminated from the upper bracket will play elimination matches, with one more team from there moving on.
The playoffs are on a single-elimination bracket, and after the Group Stage is finished, they will start on August 2nd and end on August 3rd. The playoffs will be with 8 teams and all matches will be a best-of-five (Bo5), including the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Grand Final, which happens on August 3rd. Notably, the two losing teams in the Semifinals will compete in a Decider match for third place.
Prize Pool and Awards
The OWCS Stage 2 Midseason Championship is offering a whopping $1,050,000 USD prize pool. The prize distribution is heavily weighted to the winner, as the champion will take home $400,000 USD. Not only will they take about 40% of the prize pool, but they will also get 1000 Club Points for the Esports World Cup.
