Details of the Wuyang Hero Trial
The Wuyang Hero Trial, from Overwatch 2, is a new, groundbreaking experience for the game, happening during Season 17, “Powered Up,” launching June 24, 2025. For the first time, Blizzard is letting players try out a hero early before their official release. Users can try Wuyang, the 44th hero and newest support hero, and test him out
The trial system gives players the opportunity to experience Wuyang’s new mechanics. Likewise, this also give developers important feedback before his eventual launch in Season 18 around August or September 2025. The trial begins immediately with the Season update and is available to all players around the world. Players can test Wuyang’s gameplay at launch starting at 11:00 AM Pacific time on the day it launches.
Wuyang’s Role and Abilities
Wuyang is a support character in Overwatch 2 with a water-type theme that really gives him a unique vibe. A lot of his abilities deal with manipulating water to take control of the battlefield and give utility as support to the rest of the team. We don’t know many details about his abilities since we haven’t seen any official showcase. However, we do know that Wuyang’s weapon is something unique, like a staff with blue crystals on it. Also, he had a sphere of water hovering on his finger that indicated a certain mastery of water.
Since a lot of his abilities deal with water, it could be that he has similar utility from a mechanics perspective (like Mei’s ice wall). There could be some sort of water-trapping or shielding capabilities that he gets to utilize in-game. So it could either be unlike anything we’ve seen from Overwatch 2.
Conclusion
Wuyang’s hero trial is turning out to be one of the best things in Overwatch 2’s history. It’s not every day you get to play with a new hero before they formally debut. So Blizzard is giving players a fantastic opportunity to get their mitts on him and have a head start. With this in mind, don’t miss out on the limited-time opportunity! Jump into Season 17, take Wuyang for a spin, and see what the whole deal is about.
