As per ESL, the 2028 Season is made up of six Tier 1 events throughout the year. The first event is from January 26 to February 8, the second is from March 3 to March 19, and the third is between April 10 and April 16. There will be a break mid-year, at which point the competition will resume from August 2 to August 13, carry on from September 16 to October 1, and the final event will take place from October 23 to October 29.
Locations have not been put forward yet, although ESL has confirmed that other tournaments may be added to the calendar. In a statement, the organization explained that the scheduling format seeks to provide stability and predictability for professional teams so that teams will have an easier time planning travel, as well as assurances that competitions will look similar year-to-year.
Consistency with Valve’s Tournament Guidelines
The announcement aligns with Valve’s updated tournament rules for Counter-Strike 2, which mandate that all major events planned after December 31, 2026, be publicized at least 22 months in advance. This allows for clarity and also provides players, organizations, and sponsors ample time to plan for the event. Not only is ESL announcing its 2028 roadmap so far in advance, but they are also fully committed to the idea of a structured and regulated professional esports ecosystem.
