The first three games have been played out already. Gen.G, FURIA and Liquid are looking at a comfortable 3 point lead on the scoreboard. Tonight, Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves are facing off for their first engagement in this new EPL season.

THE FIRST MATCHES OF EPL NA

Team Liquid and Chaos commenced the season with an exciting Best-of-Three. The game was a rematch of the ESL One Cologne Semi Finals, where Liquid had managed to come out on top. This time around, Chaos had to field a new player as well. Joshua “steel” Nissan had left the roster in favor of a VALORANT streaming career. Signing Edgar “markE” Maldorando, they have acquired a known player. Anthony “vanity” Malaspina will take over the in-game-leading duties for the team.

Unfortunately, their new system didn’t entirely work out against Liquid. While they were able to get a quick 6-0 lead on Nuke, they couldn’t hold onto the lead forever. Eventually, courtesy of a monster performance by Erick “Xeppaa” Bach, they still pulled through. On Overpass and Mirage, however, they were finally met with the fate that the analysts had already predicted for them. Liquid, led by Jonathan “ELiGE” Jablonowski, stomped Chaos with two 16-10 victories.

FURIA had a harder time against Cloud9. The Brasilians let the match go into overtime on Overpass, and were only able to survive thanks to Henrique “HEN1” Teles. On Inferno, FURIA led 9-6 at halftime and were able to retain their lead for a 14-11 scoreline. Then, Cloud9 suddenly mounted an incredible comeback to surpass the Brazilians with a narrow 16-14 victory. On Vertigo, the two teams were in a similar situation. Here, Yuri “yuurih” Santos was able to lead his team to a 16-14 win. In an incredibly tense Best-of-Three, FURIA have secured their first 3 points in the league standings.

Gen.G have so far been the only team to win their match in a relatively decisive 2-0 fashion. Following a 16-14 affair on the first map, they managed to defeat Triumph with a 16-10 on map #2. Hansel “BnTeT” Ferdinand dominated the scoreboard with a 1.61 rating.

EG VS. 100 THIEVES

The next match of EPL NA will take place between Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves. The Australians have been unable to secure any trophies in their online tournaments so far, performing relatively weakly in recent time. During ESL One Cologne, they didn’t even manage to get out of the Group Stage. They will now try to improve on this. However, EG surely isn’t the best opponent to start off against. With their Cologne victory in the bag, EG are looking towards a quick victory. We will see the two sides meet at 21:00 CEST. Later in the week, we can watch EG and Cloud9, as well as Liquid and 100 Thieves duel for some sweet EPL points.
