G2 have been robbed of their playoffs aspirations by the Polish AGO. Natus Vincere secured their fifth victory against Heroic and Complexity followed this up with a decisive win over Vitality, which puts them on top of the ESL Pro League Group B standings once more.

AGO 2-1 G2

G2 Esports went into the match as favorites. After all, their opponents had only won one single match and their chances to make playoffs were zero. But then, AGO suddenly pulled close to the Frenchmen. On Inferno, they got a small lead at halftime and, following a solid defense, they set themselves on top of G2 on a 16-14 scoreline. For G2, this obviously came as a shock, as they had hoped to end the match on two quick maps.

On their own pick, Nuke, they finally showed up as dominantly as they should have before. With a quick 16-4, they tied the match and went over to Vertigo. There, they achieved a solid lead in the first half. Heading to the CT side with 10-5, they were suddenly steamrolled by AGO. The Poles got round after round, dragging G2 all the way to overtime.

Oskar “oskarish” Stenborowski collected 28 Kills and was only beaten by Nemanja “nexa” Isaković with 36 kills. Unfortunately, his G2 colleagues, Kenny “KennyS” Schrub and Audric “JaCkz” Jug in particular, didn’t play to the same level. AGO scraped past with a 19-17. While the match in itself was already a huge disappointment for the Frenchmen, it had even more serious implications: They’re now out of playoffs contention, as there is no way for them to collect enough points anymore.

NAVI 2-1 HEROIC

Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev and his boys are looking really great this season. With 15 points, they are now on top of EPL Group A. Despite the top performance of Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen, the Russians got another win on the board against Heroic. On Overpass, they dismantled them, as s1mple locked in 28 kills and a 1.95 rating.

On Nuke, Heroic then fought back with an overtime victory. But then NaVi took revenge on Train, ending the match with a 16-14 map victory, lead by Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov. The Danes now have to fear for their playoffs spot. In their last match of the season, Heroic will face off against OG. Both teams are currently sitting on 9 points – so whoever makes it is sure to advance to the next stage.

COMPLEXITY 2-0 VITALITY

Similarly to BIG a few months back, Complexity have appeared unbeatable. But then, they were soundly defeated by mousesports, which was their first loss in the EPL season. Suddenly, they were not invincible anymore and Astralis even managed to catch up with them. However, in yesterday’s match versus Vitality, they have proven to be right back on track again. With 16-10 and 16-11, Benjamin “blameF” Bremer and his team got two decisive map victories on the board. Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke earned himself a 1.48 rating and even surpassed Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut in the race for match MVP. For Vitality, this doesn’t look got at all. Following losses to Astralis, Spirit, and now Complexity, they are lacking the points to safely make it to the playoffs. Their fate will be decided in a match against mousesports, who are guaranteed to make this a tense affair.
