The final major DOTA 2 tournament of the year is now underway. ESL One Bangkok 2024, with 12 teams globally, has brought the DOTA 2 action to Thailand. Starting just yesterday on December 9, the teams have already taken on each other in the competition’s initial stage.

Tournament Format, Dates, and Venue
Both stages of ESL One Bangkok 2024 will take place at the Royal Paragon Hall from December 9 until December 15. Said stages will have different formats.
The Group Stage is the tournament’s first stage, running from December 9 until 11. It will divide all 12 teams into two groups of six. Within each group, there will be single round-robin style matches where every team will be able to play each other in best-of-two series.
Four teams—the top two from each group—will advance to the Upper Brackets of the competition’s second stage. Another four which consists of the 3rd and 4th placers will go to the Lower Brackets. Unfortunately for the last placed groups in both teams, they will be eliminated from the tournament.
On to the Playoffs, teams will battle from December 12 to 15. The matches will be best-of-threes (Bo3), played in a double-elimination bracket. As said, the bracket placements would be decided based on the teams’ Group Stage standings.
The Grand Finals on December 15 will have a different format for a more intense series. It will be a best-of-five, providing opportunities for an epic comeback or total annihilation.

The participating teams for ESL One Bangkok 2024 feature four direct invites and eight from regional qualifiers.

Tournament Prize Pool
DOTA 2 esports’ final major tournament of 2024 is offering a total prize pool of $1 million divided among the contending teams. Additionally, teams will earn ESL Pro Tour (EPT) points based on their standings.
