Astralis acquire an experienced CS:GO women’s team, consisting of members from Ambush Esport Female and GODSENT Female.

The Danish esports league, which has a number of teams in a variety of competitive games including Fortnite, League of Legends, Rainbow Siege, CS:GO, has branched out into female CS:GO. The group has assembled an all-female CS:GO lineup to compete in ESL Impact with the goal of becoming an active contributor to the women’s esports circuit.

Yoana “Joanana” Vlaykova, Selin “spike” Sinem Alak, and Héjja “kezziwow” Kászandrá, who make up the core of their new team, previously played together under the Ambush Esport Female brand. Along with a few impressive showings at B-tier competitions, the team also took home the ESL Impact Spring Cash Cup 1 Europe title in March of this year. Entry fragger Rachel ”RacheLL” Kujawa teamed up with Ambush Female with a different in-game name (SUL) in July in their championship run at ESL Impact Impact Summer Cash Cup 3 Europe under the name SUL.

The last member of Astralis Fe, Aurora “aurora” Lyngdal, made her professional debut in 2015 with LGB Female and most recently played with GODSENT fe. She earned a second-place finish in the ESEA Winter 2021 Women Cash Cup 4 Europe and a top-four finish in the inaugural ESL Impact League Europe season during her time with GODSENT.

ESL Impact Season 2 kicks off with a blast

ESL Impact Season 2 European Division kicked off today, with Astralis and Ninjas in Pyjamas debuting in the female CS:GO arena. The newly created Astralis Female’s debut match against BIG EQUIPA resulted in a dismal loss, which has put them off to a rocky start. BIG narrowly won the best-of-three series despite Astralis’ best efforts with a 16-12 triumph on Dust2 and a nail-biting 16-14 escape on Ancient. Ninjas in Pyjamas Female and Nigma Galaxy Female’s opening match in group A ended similarly, with the defending ESL Champions crushing the inexperienced NIP Fe 2-0.

Astralis Female, NIP Fe, and the other six participating teams will compete in a double round-robin format in the group stage, with the top four teams qualifying for the playoffs. The two slots at the LAN finals, which are scheduled to take place in Jönköping in November, will then be up for grabs in single-elimination bracket playoffs amongst the four teams.
