EFG’s Financial Commitment
EFG will invest over $22 million in the Counter-Strike 2 ecosystem during 2025 and 2026, committing a total of $11 million yearly. This type of mass investment is meant to fuel the competitive environment so that teams and players are able to grow with this support. The funding will be spread across prize pools, operational costs, and infrastructure improvements-all of which play an important role in hosting good events.
The financial support also stretches into hospitality provisions, such as accommodations, flights, and practice facilities for events. EFG is also helping to free up teams’ resources, creating a better all-around atmosphere where players can concentrate more on performance.

Tournament Structure Changes
There are several changes for the 2025 season, some of which are as follows:
- All the matches in the Grand Finals will be best-of-fives (Bo5) instead of best-of-three (Bo3) to make competitions more aggressive.
- The removal of the best-of-one (Bo1) opening matches is up for consideration as a means to give teams the best opportunity to put their skills in play.
- Teams will qualify by means of Valve’s new Regional Standings, which will replace the existing ranking systems.
Conclusion
Ultimately, we can’t but wait for more from ESL regarding what’s going to happen with the competitive scene of Counter-Strike 2 and what this news did add to the hype about it: it is indeed an era wherein something special is happening, something that remains to be something which esports could truly call progress.
