EPIC League Division 2 is the more modest version of EPIC League Division 1. The tournament offers $50,000 in prizes and takes place between November 11th – December 13th. This is practically the tier 2 level in Europe and CIS and the 10 participants (9 actually after 5men withdrew) and teams you probably know a little bit if you’re a fan of the game. In this article, I’ll take a look at what happened so far and what’s about to happen next.

EPIC League Division 2 Results

EPIC League Division 2 had 14 matches so far, plus the ones involving 5men, which were automatically won by their opponents. And during these matches, one team stood out: Yellow Submarine. And to be honest, this is not a surprise. Just take into account YS’s results at ESL One Germany 2020 (9th – 11th out of 16 competitors, in one of the most important tournaments of the year) and DOTA Summit 13 Online: Europe & CIS (3rd – 4th).

In both cases, Yellow Submarine proved capable of going head to head with the biggest teams in the world. They beat NiP, Nigma, and came close to winning even against Natus Vincere. They’re still not good enough to beat the likes of mudgolems and Error, as proved by the PIC League Closed Qualifier. But they’re right below them.

If I had to make a top 12 of the best teams in Europe and CIS, Yellow Submarine would probably make the list. So it’s only natural that when you lower the competitive level by more than an order of magnitude, this team is going to crush everyone.

During the first competitive week of EPIC League Division 2, YS encountered Live to Win, NiP, Nemiga, and Cyberium. Only NiP managed to steal a game from them. The other 3 matches ended with a score of 2 – 0.

The complete results so far are the following:

  • 1st place: Yellow Submarine: 5 W – 0 L
  • 2nd place: Winstrike Team: 3 W – 2 L
  • 3rd place: Ninjas in Pyjamas: 3 W – 2 L
  • 4th place: Spider Pigzs: 2 W – 0 L
  • 5th place: Gambit Esports: 2 W – 0 L
  • 6th place: Live to Win: 2 W – 1 L
  • 7th place: Team Empire: 2 W – 2 L
  • 8th place: Cyberium: 2 W – 3 L
  • 9th place: Nemiga Gaming: 2 W – 4 L
  • 10th place: 5men: 0 W – 9 L

Upcoming Matches

Over the next 4 days, only one match per day will be played, with the exception of November 21st. On that day, no match will be taking place because 5men is no longer in the tournament. The other 3 matches will be the following:

  • Winstrike – Spider Pigzs:
  • Empire – NiP
  • Cyberium – Winstrike

The favorites for these matches are Winstrike, NiP, and Winstrike again.
