Riot Games have revealed the Rising Legends, which will serve as the primary esports circuit for the League of Legends spin-off Teamfight Tactics in Europe, the Middle East, and the African region.

The circuit will be run in conjunction with GGTech Entertainment, an esports organizer who is already responsible for a sizeable portion of the collegiate esports scene in Europe.

Rising Legends circuit announced

The announcement of a new EMEA esports circuit for TFT comes alongside the release of the game’s seventh season, known as sets, titled Dragonlands.

Players in the EMEA region will have the chance to enter three Golden Spatula Cups between June and October. The winner of each of these tournaments will qualify for the EMEA Regional Finals. The top players in each EMEA sub-region will be invited to compete at the GSCs, with the field rounded out through open qualifiers.

Players may also have the chance to qualify for the regional finals through the Superbrawl event, which is returning from Set Six. However, GGTech Entertainment did not reveal how the Superbrawl would function, or how players would qualify, during their announcement.

All of this culminates in the Rising Legends Finals, set to be held between October 21 and 23. The qualified players from the GSCs, ranked-play ladder, and Superbrawl, 32 players in total, will battle for four places at the TFT World Championship.

Max Wischow, Product Lead for EMEA Teamfight Tactics esports, shared his excitement for the season ahead during the reveal of the Rising Legends circuit.

“I am super excited to bring our EMEA TFT Esports Rising Legends Tournament Circuit into the Dragonlands…I am thankful for the positive and constructive feedback we received during and after Gizmos & Gadgets and have accordingly implemented a few tweaks to our Rising Legends Circuit. With Set 7 we would like to focus and support our regional competitions driving maturity with the implementation of TRCs (TFT Regional Competitions).”

Regional TFT around the world

Also announced alongside the Rising Legends circuit were the details for its North American equivalent. The American circuit will be run by Wisdom Media and will hold its Regional Finals in the same three-day period as EMEA. The American circuit is much more regimented, featuring three tournaments and a mid-season cup before the Regional Finals. Furthermore, the winner of the North American mid-season cup, known as the Mid-Set Finale, automatically qualifies for the TFT World Championship.

However, EMEA players will not have to wait long to get their Dragonlands campaign underway. According to the Rising Legends website, weekly ranked ladder tournaments begin on June 21 and the first GSC Open Qualifier begins on July 2, with the first Golden Spatula Cup itself scheduled for July 8.
