Elite League S2 Stage 1 Results

fragster Radu M. 29. July 2024

Elite League Season 2 has entered the second stage. Some of the most important teams in the race, including HEROIC, Yellow Submarine, and MOUZ, failed to obtain a top-eight result in the Swiss Stage.

In the case of HEROIC, the situation is very unfortunate. They won their first two matches and then lost three times in a row.

Swiss Stage Results

The Swiss Stage of Elite League S2 was won by OG and Team Liquid. Both teams won three consecutive matches and left no doubt in anyone’s mind that they are the two big favorites to win the trophy. However, in Liquid’s case at least, the group stage started poorly, with two consecutive defeats.

Three other teams finished the stage with a record of 3 W – 1 L: 1win, beastcoast, and Shopify Rebellion. In the case of Shopify, this result is quite impressive given that they’re playing without Arteezy, who was by far their best player.

For BOOM Esports, Execration, and nouns, the fight will continue despite their difficult start. All three teams lost two of their first three matches but managed to win the final two.

The eight eliminated teams are listed below:

  • Cuyes Esports
  • HEROIC
  • Yellow Submarine
  • Apex Genesis
  • Evil Rabbit
  • MOUZ
  • FUSION
  • Infinity

Most of them were not expected to advance to the next stage of the tournament, so their results are not that surprising. But, as I said before, HEROIC, Yellow Submarine, and MOUZ might need to consider some roster changes at the end of the season. If they can’t get a top eight result at this competitive level, in bigger tournaments they have zero chances.

Group Stage Results

The group stage of Elite League S2 has begun and three teams managed to win their first two matches: 1win, Execration, and OG. Meanwhile, beastcoast, Shopify Rebellion, and Team Liquid lost their first two. BOOM Esports and nouns are currently 1 W – 1 L.

Until Wednesday, we will know who the upper bracket and lower bracket participants are. Keep in mind that absolutely nobody will be eliminated at the end of the second stage. The top four teams advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs while the bottom four teams advance to the lower bracket.

Of course, everyone wants to finish in the top four because it’s easier to get a good result if you start in the upper bracket. With just one more victory, you’re already guaranteed a top-three result and $72.000.
