The group stage of Elite League Season 2 is over and the eight remaining competitors are ready for the playoffs. Four of them will start in the upper bracket while the other four, in the lower bracket.
The round-robin stage was full of interesting matches and the favorites, for the most part, didn’t disappoint. Team Liquid ended up losing three matches out of seven but they still managed to secure an upper bracket spot. Other than that, there were no major negative surprises.
There were, however, some major positive surprises. One of them was 1win, a team that was created only in February this year and flew under the radar in the first few months. But more recently, they easily won the EEU Qualifier for The International 2024. At Elite League S2, 1win survived stage 1 with 3 W – 1 L and then finished 2nd in stage 2 with 6 W – 1 L.
These results clearly indicate that despite having a roster full of players who have never accomplished anything spectacular, 1win is one of the best teams in the world.

Here are the complete results of stage 2:
- 1st place: OG: 6 W – 1 L
- 2nd place: 1win: 6 W – 1 L
- 3rd place: nouns: 4 W – 3 L
- 4th place: Team Liquid: 4 W – 3 L
- 5th place: BOOM Esports: 3 W – 4 L
- 6th place: Shopify Rebellion: 2 W – 5 L
- 7th place: Execration: 2 W – 5 L
- 8th place: beastcoast: 1 W – 6 L
One of the teams that played well in the group stage was nouns. Led by Fly, this team was the only one that managed to beat OG. Despite losing against beastcoast, their overall performance was solid. Maintaining this level would allow them to finish the tournament in the top four.
For beastcoast, Execration, and Shopify Rebellion, this tournament looks more or less over. The last two of these teams will meet in the first round of the lower bracket, so one of them is guaranteed to get eliminated right away. But the other two don’t have much of a chance of getting too far either.
In the playoffs, the main battle will be between the upper bracket teams. OG and 1win seem to be in great shape, but Liquid’s superior experience should prove sufficient to carry them all the way to the Grand Final.
One thing to keep in mind is that Dota 2 patch 7.37 was released in the last 24 hours. This means that the situation could suddenly change simply because of the new meta. Teams that were strong might become weak and teams that were weak might become strong. It all depends on how quickly their captains can come up with a new strategy.
