fragster James Steward 18. December 2025

FromSoftware has released Elden Ring Nightreign patch 1.03.1, bringing a big update with new content, some balance changes, and a whole lot of bug fixes. The patch is out now for anyone with The Forsaken Hollows DLC, adding more layers to the Nightreign experience and fixing gameplay issues players have noticed since launch.

The biggest part of patch 1.03.1 is the expansion of The Deep of Night mode, which now includes extra objectives and some environment tweaks that make exploring feel a little different. Alongside that, the update also adjusts the Great Hollow Shifting Earth, a main expedition area, with balance changes aimed to make combat feel smoother and more predictable.

New Deep of Night Content Hits Patch 1.03.1

With patch 1.03.1, players who own The Forsaken Hollows DLC are getting some new things in The Deep of Night mode. There are new enemies to fight, extra raid-style events, more landmarks to check out, and changes to the Shifting Earth patterns. Combat encounters tied to the Night Aspect have also been expanded, but only if everyone in the session has the DLC.

These features only show up in groups where all players own the DLC, so you won’t see them solo or with mixed groups. The updates are meant to make late-game expeditions feel a bit less predictable and more engaging, especially for players who already cleared the earlier Nightreign challenges.

Balance Tweaks and Some Quality-of-Life Fixes

Patch 1.03.1 brings a bunch of balance changes, mostly around curse effects and how combat feels in the Great Hollow Shifting Earth. Elemental curses like Fire, Magic, Lightning, and Holy got stronger, while the continuous HP loss and recovery curses were tweaked to feel fairer in longer fights.

Enemies got some adjustments toowolves in the Tricephalos raid now don’t hit as hard. On the visuals side, FromSoftware added new icons, stack counters, and better explanations in the status menu so it’s easier to understand what’s going on in fights.

Some quality-of-life fixes were added as well. Consumables now stack properly in the equipment menu, maps show more clues, and pinned items now display their rarity clearly. Keyboard and mouse players can also remap the Map Display key, which updates navigation in menus and makes handling things a bit easier.

Big Bug Fixes Systems and Abilities

One big aspect of patch 1.03.1 is all about squashing bugs, particularly those regarding character skill, relic interaction, and multiplayer. The problems in the Scholar, Revenant, and Executor types are now fixed, as they involved bugs in Ultimate Arts, skill stacks, or near-death situations for characters.

There have been solutions to bugs involving things such as incantations, sorceries, bows, and elemental effects. This is because effects are being applied, stacking, and functioning as expected with the effect of frostbite or blood loss.

Multiplayer received a fix as well, with revival abilities, cumulative effects of relics, and lock-on during a nearing-death state improved and stable this time. Boss Battles, such as Gaping Jaw and Dancer of the Boreal Valley, had hits and interactions fixed so players won’t experience bizarre issues with invincibility and damage misses.

Patch 1.03.1 – Attempts to Improve Nightreign

As a whole, the patch 1.03.1 to the Elden Ring Nightreign, while adding some interesting elements, doesn’t make revolutionary changes. With the introduction of the Deep of Night, some balancing in critical areas, and a host of other bug fixes, the expeditions in the game will thus become a significantly more streamlined experience, whether played solo or multiclient.
