EG allegedly bench Stewie2K and RUSH after an internal scandal

Evil Geniuses allegedly benched two players from their active CS:GO roster after an internal scandal of Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip... Daria Belous | 6. July 2022

Evil Geniuses allegedly benched two players from their active CS:GO roster after an internal scandal of Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip with a former team’s coach Paolo “EVY” Berbudeau, which happened recently and caused consequences for the in-game leader.

According to a report by Blix.gg, which claims to have sources close to the situation, the organization moved both Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip and William “RUSH” Wierzba from the active CS:GO roster and is looking for a new in-game leader to substitute the players.

The scandal between Stewie2K, EVY and maLeK

Recently former Evil Geniuses coach EVY clashed with Stewie2K as Berbudeau called the player “unprofessional”. Ex-assistant gave an interview to 1pv and shared his impressions of working with a North-American organization and the experience with the team’s in-game captain. EVY and Damien ‘maLeK’ Marcel, ex-Head Coach, had a lot of trouble with a teammate as Stewie allowed himself not to listen and ignore staff. Also, they were concerned about Stewie’s performance as he had a 0.55 rating against top squads in the region.

Both EVY and maLeK couldn’t cope with such an attitude and while the organization was considering the departure of Stewie, the coaches left the team as they haven’t seen any improvements in performance.

Yip decided to clap back and tell his side of the story, thus he expressed on his Twitter that EVY told a “twisted and overly dramatic story”. However Stewie acknowledged that sometimes his actions weren’t appropriate, but he claimed that he never acted disrespectfully. The player also added that the unpleasant situation happened mostly between him and maLeK, so he has questions to EVY, for example why he brought up the whole story to the public if it doesn’t involve him much.

Possible substitutes

Reportedly main contestants for the North American organization are Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen from Copenhagen Flames and Sanzhar “neaLaN” Iskhakov who plays for K23. The substitute for Wierzba seems to be Valdemar “valde” Vangså, former rifler from OG.

There’s no official announcement of roster changes and it’s unknown whether the two EG players will be transferred to two other CS:GO squads within the EG organization or if the management will part ways with them completely.

However, the changes are inevitable for the roster or the overall playstyle as current squad hasn’t shown results that are equal to the top-class organization. Evil Geniuses hasn’t competed in big events since April, as the squad couldn’t qualify for any S-tier tournament of the season like PGL Major Antwerp 2022 or currently ongoing IEM Cologne.
