Following weeks of speculation, Team Liquid has confirmed that they have parted ways with Adam “ec1s” Eccles. Their former VALORANT captain has been moved to the organization’s inactive roster, having joined in August 2020.

The 20-year-old Brit moved to Team Liquid after the fish123 roster was acquired by the org. Ec1s had been part of the hugely successful team that dominated the European VALORANT scene early on. They won a host of events, including no fewer than seven tournament successes in the same month.

Why ec1s Was Let Go by Team Liquid

While things started well for ec1s and co at Liquid, the team struggled to make an impact on the biggest stage, qualifying for the finals of just one competition. This came at the Red Bull Home Ground at the start of the year, where they eventually came unstuck against G2 Esports.

Liquid then failed to make it through to the VALORANT Champions Tour 2021 Europe Stage One, which led to a roster change. Ec1s has been removed, with former CS:GO pro Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonenn having been brought in to replace him.

What the Future Holds for Liquid & ec1s

The Team Liquid VALORANT roster is now made up by Jamppi, Dom “Soulcas” Sulcas, James “Kryptix” Affleck, Travis “L1NK” Mendoza and Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom. Coach Connor “Sliggy” Blomfield remains in charge, despite the teams’ recent struggles.
Liquid has since recorded a runner up finish at the Challengers Two event, before beating Fnatic 3-2 in order to win the Stage Two Finals. This followed their failure to qualify for the VCT Stage One. The future of ec1s remains up in the air, with a move to another team seeming the most likely outcome.

Speaking on Twitter, ec1s posted the following message: “Officially no longer apart of @TeamLiquid, thanks to everyone for the memories it was an absolute pleasure.I am now looking for new opportunities in Valorant, I have been grinding these past 3 months and I am keen to show the progress.”
