EA has revealed the competitive structure for EA SPORTS FC Pro 27, introducing a redesigned qualification pathway, a live Global Qualifier in London and more than $2.5 million in total prize money across the season.
The new campaign begins on September 21 with the FC Pro Open Ladder, several days before the standard edition of EA SPORTS FC 27 launches on September 25. The season will eventually culminate in the FC Pro World Championship, where $1 million will be on the line.
FC Pro 27 begins with an in-game Open Ladder
The first stage of the season is the FC Pro Open Ladder, running from September 21 through October 3.
Players who reach at least Division 5 in Ultimate Team Division Rivals can enter through the FC Pro Live Events section. EA’s official rules confirm that the primary competitive platform for FC Pro 27 is PlayStation 5.
The ladder remains active 24 hours a day throughout the 13-day qualification window. Competitors are ranked by their highest achieved position rather than only their final standing.

Xbox Series X|S players can participate in related in-game competition and earn rewards, but the official FC Pro qualification pathway itself uses PlayStation 5.
Regional Qualifiers cut the field to 52 players
The next stage takes place online on October 10 and 11.
Each region will begin with a Swiss-system competition on the first day before moving into a double-elimination bracket on day two.
Qualification numbers differ significantly by region. Europe West and Europe East each receive 12 places at the Global Qualifier, while LATAM South receives eight and the Middle East receives six.
A total of 52 players will progress through the regional route.
Those 52 qualifiers will travel to London for the first major live stage of the FC Pro 27 season.

London hosts the new FC Pro Open Global Qualifier
The Global Qualifier will take place from November 6 to November 8 and feature 64 competitors.
The 52 regional qualifiers will be joined by 12 directly invited players who finished between fifth and 16th in the previous FC Pro Open.
EA has removed the Last Chance Qualifier that previously existed at this stage. That change increases the importance of every round because players eliminated from the Global Qualifier will not receive another immediate route into the FC Pro Open.
The tournament begins with five rounds of Swiss competition. The top 32 then advance into four double-elimination groups, with 16 players ultimately qualifying for the FC Pro Open.

EA will also use its FC Pro Draft squad-building system for the Global Qualifier, requiring players to submit a specific squad and formation before competing.
FC Pro Open expands the path to the World Championship
The main FC Pro Open will feature 24 players.
Sixteen arrive from the London qualifier, while eight returning competitors receive direct invitations based on results from the previous FC Pro Open and World Championship.
The group stage will use a double round-robin format.
Group winners immediately qualify for the FC Pro World Championship. Players finishing second and third advance to the FC Pro Open Finals, while fourth-place competitors secure invitations to the following season’s Global Qualifier.
Players finishing fifth or sixth must restart the qualification journey.
More routes lead to the FC Pro World Championship
The Open is not the only way into the season-ending event.
EA is retaining multiple competitive pathways through FC Pro Open Cups, partner leagues, Play-Ins and a World Championship Last Chance Qualifier.
Three Open Cups will distribute Circuit Points. Those points eventually determine 28 competitors who qualify for the World Championship Play-Ins.
The Play-Ins feature 64 players and combine Swiss, double-elimination and single-elimination stages.
The final World Championship will contain 36 players before moving into a 24-player knockout bracket. Eight participants will qualify directly through the FC Pro Open, with the remaining positions coming from partner leagues and other qualification routes.
EA has also expanded eligibility in the Middle East, adding Bahrain, Jordan, Libya and Oman to the regional structure for FC Pro 27.
Assessment
The FC Pro 27 structure gives EA’s football esports ecosystem a clearer progression from open competition to elite international events.
The London Global Qualifier should become one of the most important pressure points of the season. With no Last Chance Qualifier attached to the event, a poor performance can immediately end a player’s path through the main Open route.
At the same time, EA is maintaining several alternative paths to the World Championship, which reduces the risk of one bad weekend completely defining a season.
The $2.5 million-plus prize pool and $1 million World Championship also underline EA’s continued investment in FC esports. The format remains complex, but the combination of open ladders, regional qualification, live events and partner leagues gives established professionals and emerging players multiple opportunities to reach the highest level.
