EA FC 27: Release, Early Access and Closed Beta Overview

fragster John Parker 28. July 2026

EA Sports FC 27 is moving closer to release. Electronic Arts has revealed the launch date, available editions and several new features. The first dates for the closed testing phase have also been confirmed.

The new instalment will launch worldwide on September 25, 2026. Buyers of the Ultimate Edition or the limited-time Ultimate Plus Edition can start up to seven days earlier. A Closed Beta is also expected to give selected players an early look in August.

When Will EA Sports FC 27 Be Released?

The standard release of EA Sports FC 27 is scheduled for September 25, 2026. Early Access begins on September 18, but it is only available to players who purchase one of the two more expensive editions. The Standard Edition does not include early access.

EA will release the game for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The series therefore remains available on older console generations, although some major new features will not be included on those systems.

Closed Beta Starts in August

The Closed Beta is expected to begin on August 5 and run until August 25. There is no open registration. EA selects participants and sends invitations directly by email.

Buying or pre-ordering the game does not guarantee Beta access. Public invitations and friend codes are not expected to be available either. Players should therefore only check messages connected to their own EA account.

The key details about the test phase are:

  • The Beta is expected to run from August 5 to August 25, 2026.
  • Access is available by invitation only.
  • Pre-order customers are not guaranteed a place.
  • Available game modes may vary depending on the invitation.

The Closed Beta and Early Access are separate offers: A Beta invitation does not replace a purchase or automatically grant access to the finished game.

Three Editions With Different Bonuses

EA FC 27 will launch as a Standard, Ultimate and Ultimate Plus Edition. Both Ultimate versions include Early Access from September 18 as well as various rewards for Football Ultimate Team and Career Mode.

The Ultimate Edition includes 6,000 FC Points, an international ICON player rated at least 85, an additional Evolution slot and the Premium Pass for Season 1.

The Ultimate Plus Edition increases the package to as many as 10,000 FC Points and includes the Premium Passes for the first five Seasons. A Hall of FUT Player Pick is also included.

According to EA, the Ultimate Plus Edition will only be available until August 31. The included FC Points will not all be delivered at launch and will instead be distributed over several months. Players should therefore consider carefully whether the extra bonuses justify the higher price.

The Grounds Introduces a Social Football Hub

One of the most noticeable additions is The Grounds. EA describes the mode as a social football playground combining street football, stadium atmosphere and customisable characters.

Players can take part in casual matches and one-on-one games or join Clubs with friends. The Grounds includes three explorable districts and is intended to offer space for social activities and personal customisation alongside regular matches.

However, the mode will only be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Owners of older consoles will therefore not receive the full range of features.

Other announced changes include:

  • dynamic corners and improved attacking runs
  • more player-focused defending for competitive matches
  • an overhauled transfer market in Career Mode
  • a new FUT Gallery for collected player cards

EA is also promising more dynamic market values in Career Mode. Form, morale, fitness, potential and each club’s financial position are expected to influence transfers more heavily. Bidding wars and new contract clauses are also part of the revised system.

PC Requirements Remain Moderate

Current PC requirements list at least an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or Intel Core i5-6600K, 8 GB of RAM and a Radeon RX 570 or GeForce GTX 1050 Ti.

For the recommended settings, the listed hardware includes a Ryzen 7 2700X or Core i7-6700, 12 GB of RAM and an RX 5600 XT or GTX 1660.

Around 100 GB of free storage is expected to be required regardless of the configuration. DirectX 12, a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or Windows 11 and a broadband internet connection are also required.

Assessment: Plenty of Content, but Clear Limitations

EA FC 27 already has a detailed roadmap. The release, Early Access and Beta dates are set, while EA is promoting several larger changes through The Grounds and the redesigned transfer market.

The Grounds could be particularly interesting for players looking for a more social mode outside Ultimate Team and traditional Career Mode matches. However, its restriction to newer systems is likely to cause debate. PS4, Xbox One and the original Nintendo Switch will still receive the main game, but not every major feature.

The division into three editions will also be closely watched. Early Access and a wide range of bonuses are locked behind the more expensive versions, while the Ultimate Plus Edition adds FC Points distributed over time and several Premium Passes.

Whether EA FC 27 delivers a meaningful step forward in gameplay will only become clear during the Beta and upcoming gameplay presentations. At least the current roadmap gives interested players an early understanding of when they can start and which edition or platform they will need.
