Techland has a big holiday update ready for the whole Dying Light franchise. There are new difficulty systems, survival mechanics, and lots of events with exclusive rewards. From the cruel Nightmare Mode to the returning Christmas events, a player needs to know all these things.

Update 1.5: A Nightmare Mode Is Coming

Update 1.5 is out now and features the Nightmare Mode that is the most difficult one. This mode, which is very limited to only a handful of users, changes the core gameplay system to a great extent.

The major chages are:

  • Enemies are tougher, deal more damage, and are more alert
  • The resources in the whole Castor Woods become more limited
  • There is a new elite infected enemy, the Alpha Volatile, which:
    Follows the player’s scent
Does not care about the UV flashlight
Tracks the player and kills him/her, even if he/she is far away

A player in Nightmare Mode who kills bosses, completes the campaign can get charms, outfits, and other cosmetic rewards making this a true endgame challenge.

Hunger Management System

The major survival mechanic in Update 1.5 is Hunger Management that is directly related to the protagonist, Kyle Crane.

When the character eats, the food helps to restore stamina, health regeneration, and makes the character more efficient in combat

  • If you ignore hunger, you will eventually have to go through starvation.
  • Starvation makes the character very weak and in some cases it can lead to death.

With this system, the player is required to think about the resources and be ready whenever he/she goes exploring. It definitely makes the game more realistic.

Gifts From Above 2025: Holiday Event Returns

The Gifts From Above 2025 holiday event has returned to Dying Light 2: Stay Human, giving Villedor a festive makeover.

Highlights of the event:

  • Enemies are dressed in Christmas, themed costumes
  • Defeating them gives Holiday Candies
  • Candies can be traded for Santas Airdrops that contain valuable loot

This event mixes seasonal fun with meaningful progression rewards.

Santas Crew Paraglider

Evolving Bundles and Classic Holiday Events

The new Evolving Bundle mechanism is introduced with the Night Wolf Bundle, by which players may complete quests to upgrade their gear to the Crimson Werewolf set. This is a reward system that includes evolving weapons, gear, rifle, launcher, and paraglider skins.

Furthermore, the festive event Super Crane Saves The Day is back and the players are tasked with delivering gifts across Harran and fighting festive enemies in order to receive rewards such as the Santas Helper Outfit.
