The first week of the VCT Pacific League is history; we have the first five teams that have stepped up and moved to the top of the standings.

  • DRX
  • T1
  • Paper Rex
  • Team Secret
  • G

Of all these victories, the one that surprised me the most was T1’s victory over Global Esports, as no one expected such high performance from T1.

DRX crushes Zeta Division

DRX shows off their third-place finish at VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paulo 2023 and crushes Zeta Division in two maps. Kim “MaKo” Myeong-kwan (145 ADR and 1.50 Rating) and Kim “stax” Gu-taek (188 ADR and 1.27 Rating) led DRX to victory in this match.

Zeta Division had no chance against DRX in either of the maps they played, as both (Ascent and Pearl) ended with a score of 13-5.

Paper Rex beats a surprised DetonatioN FM

Overconfidence almost took its toll on the Paper Rex boys, as after a comfortable win on Pearl (13-5), they came very close to conceding on Lotus. However, they came away with the 13-11 victory to add to their first win in this VCT Pacific League 2023.

Benedict “Benkai” Tan (170 ADR and 1.14 Rating), Khalish “d4v41” Rusyaidee (148 ADR and 1.14 Rating), and Jing Jie “Jinggg” Wang (156 ADR and 1.14 Rating) had a phenomenal series and showed all their potential for Paper Rex to take the victory. For DetonatioN FM, Seo “Suggest” Jae-young (189 ADR and 1.23 Rating) and Ryumon “Reita” Oshiro (164 ADR and 1.14 Rating) stood out; however, they could do nothing to prevent their team’s defeat.

Team Secret surprises Talon Esports and gets an excellent victory

Talon Esports, one of the best teams in the VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paulo 2023, got a not-so-pleasant surprise against a Team Secret that played a phenomenal series. The Filipino team managed to take a 2-1 win over Ascent (13-5), Icebox (8-13), and Fracture (13-3).

As we observed, Team Secret started very strong thanks to Adrian “invy” Reyes (156 ADR and 1.31 Rating) to take a remarkable victory in Ascent. Then, Talon Esports reacted and hit back thanks to Thanamethk “Crws” Mahatthananuyut (204 ADR and 1.46 Rating) in Icebox.

Finally, Jim “BORKUM” Timbreza (167 ADR and 1.71 Rating) took Team Secret by the hand to a crushing 13-3 victory in Fracture.

Gen.G closes out the first week with a win over Rex Regum Queon

The game that closed the curtain on the first day of the VCT Pacific League 2023 was between Gen.G Esports and Rex Regum Queon, which had Gen.G as the tormentor of the series, taking the victory in Fracture (13-9) and Lotus (13-6).

The first map got a great start for Rex Regum Queon, who won the first four rounds. After that, however, Gen.G woke up and won the next ten rounds to take a 10-4 lead. After that, RRQ tried to wake up, but it was not enough, and they fell 9-13.

The second map was the same story, as Gen.G lost the pistol round again. But this time, they recovered from the third round and, from that point on, were unstoppable for RRQ. Lotus was dominated to perfection by Gen.G, who had Kim “Meteor” Tae-O in his best possible form.
