Western Europe is known to be the toughest Dota 2 region in the world. And so far, the new season has been quite shocking to witness.

Team Secret finished second at The International 11 and then lost their most valuable player: Michal “Nisha” Jankowski. He was signed by Team Liquid and Secret assumed that they would be able to replace him. But as we now know, Nisha is irreplaceable.

Team Secret’s struggles

Secret will almost certainly relegate to Division II after Tour 1 because so far, in their first five matches, they lost not only every single match but almost every single game as well. The total round score is 1 W – 10 L. This is the worst season start in the history of the team.

If Clement “Puppey” Ivanov doesn’t do something fast, he’ll soon go the way of his friend, Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi, who missed the last two editions of The International and is struggling to keep his career alive but with little success.

Nigma Galaxy’s struggles

Nigma Galaxy clearly proved in their first four matches that they completely lost their prowess. Not only did they lose against Tundra Esports and Team Liquid, which was 100% expected. They also lost against Gaimin Gladiators and even Into The Breach. These two losses suggest that they have almost no hope of staying in Division I.

Nigma’s inability to win even a single match is really sad for old-school Dota 2 fans. Anyone who has followed KuroKy’s career knows how much he loves this game and how much effort he has put into trying to be one of the best. But given his “old” age of 30, it’s probably time for Kuro to retire after this season.

As for Puppey, he’s almost 33 years old, which basically means that he’s one of the oldest competitors in Dota 2.

Team Liquid’s dominance

Liquid are unstoppable right now. In their first five best-of-three matches, they won every single match and every single game. This team will not get defeated anytime soon. And given the lack of world-class competitors in many of the other regions, including China, it’s quite likely that Team Liquid will win the Lima Major.

What’s remarkable is that Liquid even managed to beat Tundra Esports. This would have been impossible several months ago. But now it seems inevitable.
