Western Europe is always an exciting region to follow in Dota 2 because many of the world’s best teams come from here. In Tour 1 of Dota Pro Circuit 2023, the rivalries between competitors like OG and Team Liquid generated a lot of hype and the results are very interesting.

The last tiebreaker has already had two rounds and it seems that the three teams that are fighting for the last two Lima Major spots are evenly matched. In the third round, the winners will hopefully be decided. Otherwise, Valve may have to change the system in the future.

WEU Results

The results in Western Europe were partially expected. When Team Liquid managed to steal Michal “Nisha” Jankowski from Team Secret, everyone knew that they would become either the best or second-best team in the region.

Tundra Esports were still regarded as the most likely competitor to dominate WEU in Tour 1 of DPC 2023, but Liquid seemed just as likely to be the winners.

After three weeks of tough matches, we now know that Liquid are the strongest team in this competition and possibly the world as well. There’s nobody in China that comes close to their prowess and the only real rivals will come from Eastern Europe, where BetBoom Team and Team Spirit continue to be very dominant.

Liquid finished Tour 1 with a perfect record: 7 W – 0 L. And they only lost two games in total. One against OG and one against Gaimin Gladiators. With this kind of performance, it’s hard to imagine that they will get beaten by someone at the Lima Major.

The second place in the region was occupied by Gaimin Gladiators, who seem to have made a great decision when they signed Quinn “Quinn” Callahan from Soniqs. He had to come from North America to compete for them and he recently declared himself to be very happy with the move.

Gladiators have a lot of big names on their roster, including Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp and Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard, a former Secret player. The team’s record for the first Tour was 5 W – 2 L.

The third and fourth positions are currently disputed in a tiebreaker. The participants are Entity, OG, and Tundra Esports. Normally, Tundra and OG will emerge victorious. But in cases like this, anything can happen.

The best-of-one format is the most unpredictable of all and there’s a small chance that the TI champions will fail to qualify for the Lima Major.
