Although Yiliang “Peter” “Doublelift” Peng suffered a loss with his team 100 Thieves on the opening day of the LCS, the legendary player has reached a milestone in his first game in two years!

Just a game after his LCS comeback with 100 Thieves, Doublelift put his name back in the league’s history books. His second kill in today’s game against Cloud9 took him to 2,100 kills, making him the third player in LCS history to reach that number.

Cloud9 dominated the match

While one might have wished for a win for the AD carry for Doublelift’s comeback, to make his return extra glorious, that wish was not granted. The reigning LCS champion overpowered 100T mid-game to the end of the game and grabbed a Rift Herald that opened the map in C9’s favor. After that, they only increased their lead even further.

Twenty minutes into the game, C9 had a 3,000 gold lead and the Thieves were unable to regain control of the game. In the final minutes of the match, C9 controlled every corner of the map, making the game virtually unplayable for 100 Thieves except for desperate attempts to perform miracles. The game ended with a lopsided result of 25:8 kills for C9 while C9’s gold advantage was 9,000 when the Nexus of 100 Thieves was eventually destroyed.

Doublelift reaches milestone on LCS day one

Doublelift was able to get the decisive kill in the last minute of the game. So he almost didn’t get the achievement and he wouldn’t have gotten the chance to reach the 2,100 kill mark again until the next match.

The only other players who have already made it to 2,100 kills are longtime LCS AD carry Jason “WildTurtle” Tran. He’s playing for TSM’s NACL team this year. The third player to do so is Doublelift’s teammate Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, who holds the record in the LCS with a total of 2,290 kills. After getting three kills against C9 today, Bjergsen now sits at 2,293 total kills.

Actually, Doublelift would have to overtake his teammate Bjergsen in the course of this season if he wants to match his record. As long as Doublelift does not play an entire season without Bjergsen, as Bjergsen did in 2022, these standings of the kill records in the LCS should not change for the time being.

Today, Doublelift and his team have a chance to secure a win against the Immortals and get their first win of the new LCS season.
