Dota 2 has been around for more than a decade but throughout this time, it’s never been a friendly game with video editors and content creators.

Almost every Dota 2 player is familiar with Dota Watafak, the famous YouTube channel with 3.17 million subscribers that offers 10-minute films with the best in-game moments sent from around the world.

From epic rampages to brilliant moves, these videos include a wide array of memorable moments that are highly entertaining. But outside of this channel, players did not have an easy way of sharing such moments with their friends.

Valve is looking to change this by introducing a feature that allows players to easily record their best moments and then share them. This will undoubtedly lead to a much greater number of rare Dota 2 clips being circulated around the world. In turn, the game will benefit from more exposure and its player base will grow.

However, that’s not necessarily the primary goal of the newly created Dota 2 feature. The objective was simply to make life easier for the players and give them the ability to boast to their buddies about the crazy stuff that happened in their recent games.

How The Game Recording Feature Works

Dota 2 Game Recording is a built-in Steam feature that can be activated with the press of a hotkey. Recordings are properly partitioned and include a timeline. On top of this, you can add your own markers. That way, it’s much easier to clip a scene that starts at moment M1 and ends at moment M2.

To get the new feature, all you need to do is opt into the Beta Update on Steam, located in the Interface Settings. You can also check the GameRecording webpage for a tutorial. However, everything is very intuitive, so you can figure out how this feature works on your own.

One thing to keep in mind is that this feature doesn’t just work for Dota 2. It works for any Steam game, giving you a quick and easy way to create clips of your best moments. This could be utilized to gather subscribers on a YouTube channel and possibly even monetize your gaming content.

Some players are really good at creating unique moments that are captivating to watch. If you understand what other gamers want to see or are interested in, you could easily create highlight clips and brief tutorials on how to accomplish certain tasks.
