Dota 2 TI13 2024: Venue, Teams, Tickets, and More

The action is about to turn on for Dota 2’s esports community. TI13 will make September more exciting as 16 teams will compete for the title. 

The biggest Dota 2 event of the year is coming sooner than you think. The International 2024, or TI13, is Valve’s thirteenth iteration of their premier tournament. 

It will bring together the best teams across the world for a title and a multimillion-dollar prize pool. Definitely, many await this premier tournament with its numerous seasons that have made history in the esports world.

Here’s everything you might need to know about Dota 2 TI13 2024:

Venue and dates

It’s about time for TI13 to make its return to the European region after two years. It was notable that last year’s tournament was in the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. However, this year, TI13 will be in Copenhagen, Denmark, for an even more exciting competition.

Nonstop thrilling matches will happen from September 4 to September 15, 2024, to fill your days up. To properly finish the tournament, the prestigious Royal Arena will host the finals weekend. 

Format

There will be sixteen teams competing in the multi-stage format of the tournament. Starting with the group stage from September 4 to September 7, 2024, they are grouped into four. A single round-robin stage where only the top two teams from each group will move forward to seeding matches. 

Every match will be a best-of-two to determine the winner of the game series. This will eliminate the bottom teams from the group stage. 

On September 7, a seeding decider will determine the teams’ bracket placement for the main event. Moving on to the main event, advancing teams will have matches from September 8–10 and September 13–15 while in the double-elimination bracket. 

The upper and lower brackets will each have eight teams to fight for a best-of-3, except in the Grand Final, where they will implement a best-of-5 series.

Teams

Valve used a new qualification system for TI13 teams. In this new system, it combines direct invites and regional qualifiers for competing teams.

Six teams in the tournament received direct invites. These teams are Team Spirit, Xtreme Gaming, Team Falcons, Team Liquid, Gaimin Gladiators, and BetBoom Team. 

Meanwhile, ten teams will join them after winning the regional qualifying tournaments. Six regions will have teams to represent them in the TI13. It includes Western Europe, where Cloud9 and Tundra Esports will be joining the roster. After winning the tournament in Eastern Europe, 1Win will represent the region in TI13.

Along with them are Team Zero and G2 x iG of China, as well as Aurora and Talon Esports of Southeast Asia. With HEROIC, beastcoast, and nouns of South and North America complete the cast of teams. 

Prize Pool

In this year’s tournament, the Compendium sales are also used to boost the prize pool. Compendium is Valve’s interactive battle pass that lets fans give support to their favorite teams, predict matches, and unlock exclusive in-game content. The previous years saw this method increase the prize pool for winning teams. 

$1,600,000 serves as The International’s prize pool for this year. This amount is exclusive of the 25% of all Compendium sales that add to the total. So far, the pool has collected a total of $2,023,516 and is still growing as the tournament will begin soon. 

Tickets and Attendance

Pump up the energy for the finals weekend at the Royal Arena, as tickets are available. From September 13–15, fans can buy tickets from Ticketmaster with several options to pick from:

Broadcast Talent

Esports competitions are on another level when hosted by the best and most talented broadcasters. Definitely, they have their ways of making matches more thrilling, exciting, and engaging. Valve has perfectly assembled a lineup to impress the crowd. 

NatTea and Sheever will serve as the hosts of the English broadcast. Ephey, Fear, Jenkins, KheZu, Lacoste, Purge, Wagamama, and TeaGuvnor will share their pre-game insights and match analysis to provide better game understanding. For the commentators in the game, Fogged, ODPixel, Cap, SUNSfan, syndereN and many more are certain to hype the matches all over again.
