After months of waiting, IceFrog decided to shock the Dota 2 community with another major patch.
Everyone was hoping for a minor patch that would rebalance some of the most broken heroes ahead of The International 2024. Instead, what we got was a monstrous Dota 2 patch, 7.37, and every professional team is now scrambling to decypher it before TI.
In this article, I will go through some of the most significant changes introduced by Dota 2 patch 7.37.
General Changes
Roshan’s outposts now have a much lower teleport time. From 6s, the time was lowered to 4s.
On his second death, Roshan now drops a Banner. And on his third, he now drops Refresher Shard and Cheese during the daytime. During the night, he drops Aghanim’s Blessing.
A lot of abilities, facets, and innates have become breakable, in the sense that they can be temporarily disabled by break. A tooltip was added to the UI to indicate this.
Lots of neutral creeps have been buffed. Among them, Giant Wolf, Hellbear Smasher, Hellbear, Ancient Granite Golem, and Ancient Rock Golem have received the biggest buffs.
Item Changes
A lot of items have been changed by Dota 2 patch 7.37.
Heart of Tarrasque now gives just 1.4% max HP regen instead of 1.6%. This is a massive nerf.
Heaven’s Halberd gives +25% slow resistance and can be actively used for just 75 mana. Previously, it gave 20% resistance and the mana cost was 100.
The duration of Lotus Orb’s Echo Shell is now 5s instead of 6s.
The duration of Pipe of Insight is now 10s instead of 12s.
Guardian Greaves’ cooldown is now 45s instead of 40s.
The projectile speed of Ethereal Blade is now 1400 instead 1275, making it harder to dodge.
Eternal Shroud’s bonus magic resistance per stack is 3.5% instead of 4%.
Crimson Guard’s cooldown is now 40s instead of 35s. The additional damage block, provided to the caster, is now 2.2% of his max HP instead of 2.5%.
Bracer no longer gives a damage bonus. Instead, it gives 50 / 100 HP.
The cost of Solar Crest was reduced by 100.
Spirit Vessel no longer provides +6 to all attributes. It gives 375 HP instead, which is the equivalent of around 19 strength. The cooldown of Soul Release is now 10s. The damage dealt by it is 25 per second instead of 35. The HP gain reduction is 50% instead of 45%.
Iron Talon was introduced again as a tier 2 neutral item. It gives 20 attack speed and 4 armor. Its active can be used every 20s and will lower a creep’s current HP by 80%. That’s amazing when farming the jungle.
Hero Changes
Dota 2 patch 7.37 introduced numerous hero changes, aimed at changing the meta as much as possible. At Riyadh Masters 2024, people saw certain heroes so many times that the games started to become repetitive and boring. Now we will definitely see a lot of new heroes because the buffs and the nerfs are both numerous and substantial.
