Dota 2 – OG Esports Announces Youthful New Roster

Wih Johan “N0tail” Sundstein’s indefinite break from competitive Dota 2 action having left the organization somewhat in the lurch, OG Esports has decided to go in a different direction with their latest roster. Their youthful lineup will center around Mikhail “Misha” Agatov, who acted as the teams’ head coach during the Western Europe regional qualifier, right up until The International 10.

OG has been dealing with the losses of Sebastien “Ceb” Debs, Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen and N0tail, with the trio of core players having been a key part of their former roster. It remains to be seen as to how the departure of such legends will impact the team. However, with the org having brought in mostly developmental players as replacements, it is likely to take time for OG to compete at the highest level once again.

Who Will Make Up the OG Esports Roster for 2022?

OG CEO, Juan M.R. Luna, recently stated that Misha was being mentored to lead the team following the completion of The International 10, with the former Team Spirit support to team up with fellow veteran Tommy “Taiga” Le, who also joined the org this week. Le is a former Team Liquid favorite, with the 23-year-old Norwegian having made a name for himself as one of the best players in the region over recent years. It is understood that he will also act as co-captain for OG.

The three youngsters that have been added to the OG Esports Dota 2 roster are Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf, Bozhidar “bzm2 Bogdanov and Artem “Yuragi” Golubiev. ATF and bzm are both former Creepwave players, a team competing in the lower division. Meanwhile, little is known about Yuragi, apart from the fact that he previously compted for Unique.gg and has appeared at a host of Tier 3 events.

Will OG Esports Be In a Position to Challenge During the Upcoming Season?

ATF is widely regarded as one of the leading young offlaners around, while Yuragi is a promising carry. OG are clearly thinking long-term with their latest roster rebuild. It is unlikely that they will win much in the near future. However, with the guidance of both Ceb and N0tail in the background, they could reep the rewards in the long run.

OG finished 7th-8th at The International 10, having been eliminated by Team Spirit in the Lower Bracket R3 , after famously won the event in both 2018 and 2019. As well as their recent player departures, OG parted ways with Assistant Coach Titouan “Sockshka” Merloz earlier in the month.
