Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen, Abdulkhalik “degster” Gasanov, and Volodymyr “Woro2k” Veletniuk have been accused of match-fixing together with other popular CS:GO players by Alexei “Yarabeu” Kurlov, a former employee of the Esports Integrity Commission.

Counter-Strike is one of the most notorious esports titles when it comes to match-fixing, and its community seems to care less about it than anyone else. Recently, a former employee of the Esports Integrity Commission named Alexei Yarabeu has brought attention to an alleged pervasive match-fixing culture in the CIS and Asia region. Earlier last week, Yarabeau appeared on Konstantin “LENINIW” Sivko’s Twitch stream to talk about match-fixing, during which he accused several profiled CIS players of match-fixing and participating in “ghost tournaments.”

Moreover, Yarabeau alleged that despite his complaints to Valve, the organization was either unable or unwilling to take any action to stop the fixing. He further explained that the anonymity of cryptocurrency transactions makes it challenging for investigators to go through schemes and prove that people are accepting kickbacks or purposely losing matches. The players reportedly involved in the incident, according to him, have played for Project X, Trasko Esports, Marlian eSports, Trident, and Espada. Yarabeu also brought up Abdul “degster” Hasanov, though the former ESIC employee doesn’t specifically describe him as being actively involved in fixing. Yarabeu did not provide any concrete evidence that the mentioned CS:GO pros had indeed fixed matches.

The accused players include:

  • Hristiyan “REDSTAR” Pironkov
  • Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen
  • Ramazan “Ramz1k” Basizov
  • Dmitriy “Dima” Bandurka
  • Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov
  • Vladislav “FinigaN” Usov
  • Volodymyr “Woro2k” Veletniuk\

The CS:GO players respond to the claims

Dmitriy “Dima” Bandurka,  OG’s star AWPer gave the first responses following the broadcast, firmly denying any involvement in manipulated games or any other type of cheating. He believes that Yarabeau wants to raise the hype. Degster also refuted the claims of cheating while ironically calling Yarabeu a “moron”. The Russian CS:GO professional continued by demanding an apology from Yarabeau for an offensive remark he made earlier about Dagestan.

No radar, no goths, no left-handed info, and no contracting. Zero wrongdoing on my part. My conscience and reputation are completely clear. I have always played, and continue to play fairly, giving my best.” – Dmitriy “Dima” Bandurka

Yarabeu also mentioned a match-fixing network allegedly operating within the Chechnyan CS:GO Community. Yarabeu claims that the match-fixing network takes advantage of up-and-coming players by first giving them the chance to practice and hone their skills in Russia before finally pushing them to blow matches purposely.
