Everyone knew it even before the tournament began: “if Na’Vi wins, s1mple will be named MVP again.” And since the CIS team won the PGL Major without losing a single map, the predictions proved to be correct. However, this award isn’t just a celebration of s1mple’s ability to forge a world-beating roster. It comes in recognition of his tournament stats.

s1mple’s Contribution to Na’Vi’s PGL Major Victory

At PGL Major, Na’Vi played a total of 10 maps.

Na’Vi vs. Heroic: Ancient

This map ended with a score of 16 – 11 in favor of Na’Vi. The first map was challenging for s1mple’s team but eventually, the CIS roster started to get a better read on the game and won a couple of decisive rounds that broke Heroic’s economy.

s1mple was not the best player on his team during this match, but his stats were excellent: 1.21 (rating 2.0). The only stronger player on the server was electronic (1.36).

Na’Vi vs. Virtus.pro: Overpass

This was a stomp. The final score was 16 – 4 and the match was practically over after the first half. This time, s1mple was by far the strongest player on the server, with a rating 2.0 of 1.95. His KD score was +14 and his ADR was 121.9.

Na’Vi vs. NiP: Nuke

The final score on this map was 16 – 9 and s1mple’s 2.0 rating was 1.41. However, the player had the highest number of frags on the server (23) and a low number of deaths (12). Based on these numbers, it was clear that he was his team’s main carry, even though B1T and electronic had slightly higher ratings (1.43 and 1.45 respectively).

Na’Vi vs. NiP: Overpass

On Overpass, the score was once again 16 – 9 but because of Na’Vi’s strategy, s1mple couldn’t get done as much as he wanted. Instead, it was B1T and electronic that got the opportunity to score a lot of points. s1mple’s rating 2.0 on this map was 1.17, while B1T and electronic had 1.67 and 1.55 respectively.

Na’Vi vs. Vitality: Dust II

The score on this map was 16 – 11 and this time, it was Perfecto’s time to shine. His KD score was +16 but s1mple still managed to come in 2nd, with a rating 2.0 of 1.34, while his teammate’s was 1.58.

Na’Vi vs. Vitality: Nuke

On Nuke, the score was 16 – 13 and s1mple’s score was not impressive. However, he was still one of the best players on the server with a KD score of +7. The only one who had a better KD score was B1T (+11). s1mple’s rating 2.0 on this map was only 1.18, but that’s because his teammates did such a great job that he didn’t have to carry as much as he usually does.

Na’Vi vs. Gambit: Overpass

This match was the easiest of the PGL Major for Na’Vi, and the team dominated its opponent on both maps. The score on Overpass was 16 – 8. Once again, s1mple was the best player on the server with a KD score of +11 and a rating 2.0 of 1.57.

Na’Vi vs. Gambit: Mirage

The score here was 16 – 4 and this was by far s1mple’s best performance of the tournament. His rating 2.0 was off the charts: 2.26. He got 27 kills, 8 assists, and just 8 deaths. The player’s ADR was also ridiculously high: 131.4.

Na’Vi vs. G2: Ancient

This was the first map of the Grand Final and Na’Vi delivered exactly what was expected of it. The score was 16 – 11 and s1mple’s performance truly made the difference. His rating 2.0 was 1.68 and his KD score was +15. s1mple got 32 kills on this map and 14 assists.

Na’Vi vs. G2: Nuke

The final score here was 19 – 15 and for the last time during PGL Major Stockholm, s1mple proved to be the greatest player on the planet. He got 40 kills and a KD score of +16. His rating 2.0 was 1.41. The entire performance was monstrous.

Looking at the raw numbers, it’s obvious why s1mple won the PGL Major MVP award. Throughout the tournament, he was an amazing piece of the Na’Vi machine, that did its job to perfection.
