Having recently been replaced by talented youngster Michael “Grim” Wince at Team Liquid, legendary CS:GO player nitr0 is believed to be closing in on a switch to VALORANT, which is the newest title from Riot Games. Despite reportedly being in talks with a number of organisations, nitr0, real name Nicholas Cannella, is believed to favour a move to VALORANT, an increasingly popular first person shooter game.

As one of the biggest names in the CS:GO scene in North America, nitr0 previously helped Team Liquid in making it through to the ESL One Cologne Major Grand Finals in 2016, before captaining the team which won no less than four S-Tier events, including the ESL One Cologne, ESL Pro League Season Nine Finals, Dreamhack Masters Dallas 2019 and the Intel Extreme Masters XIV Sydney.

How Would nitr0 Fit in at VALORANT?

While being an excellent all-rounder, nitr0 is best-known for his work as an in-game leader, with questions having already arisen surrounding where he would fit in when it comes to VALORANT. The acquisition of nitr0 would be a major coup for VALORANT, meaning that they saw off competition from many other major North American teams. Aged just 24, nitr0 could still undoubtedly do a job for many CS:GO teams, however the challenge of making a name for himself in VALORANT could be too good to turn down.

VALORANT has been making major waves since its release earlier this summer, with the recent FaZe Invitational having been the most successful event since the game’s closed beta launch back in April. Some 180,000 viewers tuned in to watch the action unfold on Twitch, with Team SoloMid and Sentinels battling it out for the title in the end. In the end it was TSM who came out on top, 3-2, to win their second Ignition Series event, a record which puts them one ahead of rivals Sentinels. The addition of a name such as nitr0’s to proceedings would only add to the appeal of VALORANT, with the game set to go from strength to strength.

With the news that Grim would replace nitr0 at Team Liquid still being digested by many, along with the fact that the North American outfit will not be coached by Moses, VALORANT has wasted little time in making their move. Despite being a relative veteran at 24, nitr0 still has the pulling power to match many Esports players, something in which Riot Games’ latest offering are pushing for, as they begin to attract more and more CS:GO talents.
