CS2 Update Lets Players Craft Knives and Gloves for the First Time; How You can Do It

Valve’s latest patch to Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) has initiated a radical change in the economy of the game and has enabled players to craft some high-tier items like knives and gloves for the first time. The newly introduced mechanic greatly expands upon a long-standing feature of the game, the Trade-Up Contract, which, until this update, could only facilitate exchanges of weapon skins.

Now players can craft a knife or a pair of gloves by using the Trade-Up Contract to combine five Covert-quality (red rarity) skins. This new mechanic operates similarly to the standard Trade-Up Contract, though it utilizes just a few items; the combined value of the five Covert skins is much higher. Before this update, there was no way for players to craft or create such scarce items through in-game methods; therefore, this represents a major shift in mechanics for both traders and collectors.

It gets started by opening the Trade-Up Contract from the inventory, and within, the player can select their choice of five Covert-tier skins, including either regular or StatTrak. Players selecting five regular Covert skins will get either a knife or gloves, while selecting five StatTrak Covert skins will provide a StatTrak knife. StatTrak gloves aren’t currently available in the crafting mechanics.

The collection of the input skins determines the resulting item’s collection. If all five input skins share the same collection, the crafted knife or gloves will be selected from that collection. If the input skins are mixed, the final output will be chosen randomly among those items.

The float value of the input skins will directly affect the wear condition of the crafted item, meaning using lower-float skins, such as 0.01 float Covert Skins or below, will aid in the appearance of the item. Players should also keep in mind that crafted items are subject to trade-hold limitations depending on the origin of the input skins.

Although crafting rare items is an exhilarating thrill in the game, it is not guaranteed to be fun for profit. Often, the combined price of the five Covert Skins is greater than the price of including potentially rare knives/gloves, particularly now that demand has increased since the recent update, resulting in fluctuations on the CS2 market for both skin trends and knives.

Concluding Thoughts

The addition of a knife and glove crafting mechanic to CS2 opens up higher-tier items to players while also changing the whole economy around Covert skins. For collectors and enthusiasts of higher-tier skins, the new mechanic adds risk and reward to the thrill of obtaining the most-dreamed-about items in the game by mixing strategy with luck.
