NiP and Lynn Vision Survive as CS2 EWC 2026 Group Stage Tightens

The Counter-Strike 2 tournament at the Esports World Cup 2026 has moved deeper into its group stage, with Ninjas in Pyjamas and Lynn Vision both surviving elimination matches on August 14.

NiP defeated BetBoom Team 2-0 in Group B, while Lynn Vision won the Chinese derby against TYLOO by the same score in Group C.

At the same time, Team Vitality, B8, MOUZ and FUT Esports are fighting for direct playoff qualification through the upper side of Group C. The tournament features 32 teams competing for a $2 million prize pool, with four teams from each group ultimately reaching the 16-team playoffs.

NiP recover with convincing BetBoom win

Ninjas in Pyjamas entered their series against BetBoom with no margin for error.

After losing their opening best-of-one against Legacy, NiP dropped into the lower bracket. Another defeat would have immediately ended their EWC campaign.

Instead, the European roster responded with a controlled 2-0 victory.

NiP dominated Nuke 13-3 before facing considerably more resistance on Anubis. BetBoom remained competitive on the second map, but NiP eventually closed it 13-11 and avoided a deciding Ancient.

The series produced three clear outcomes:

• NiP remain alive in the Group B lower bracket
• BetBoom are eliminated from EWC 2026
• NiP move on to face Astralis for a playoff position

The next match represents a major increase in pressure. Astralis lost 0-2 to Falcons in the upper bracket, meaning one established European organization will leave the tournament when the two sides meet.

Lynn Vision eliminate Chinese rivals TYLOO

Group C produced another 2-0 elimination result.

Lynn Vision defeated TYLOO 13-8 on Nuke and 13-4 on Inferno, keeping their own playoff hopes alive while ending TYLOO’s campaign.

The first map was significantly closer than the final score suggests. TYLOO reached halftime with an 8-4 advantage on Nuke before Lynn Vision completely reversed the match.

Lynn Vision then won nine consecutive rounds on the CT side to close the map without allowing TYLOO another point.

Inferno became even more decisive. Lynn Vision took an 8-4 halftime lead and then won the first five rounds after switching sides.

Across both maps, TYLOO failed to win a single second-half round, allowing Lynn Vision to produce a combined 14-0 score after the side switches.

Vitality and B8 fight for direct qualification

The upper side of Group C features one of the day’s biggest matches.

Team Vitality and B8 are meeting in a best-of-three with direct playoff qualification on the line. Vitality reached the match after comfortably defeating 100 Thieves 13-4 on Nuke in its opening best-of-one.

B8 earned its position with a tighter 13-11 victory over PARIVISION on Cache.

The matchup gives B8 an opportunity to produce one of the tournament’s more significant upsets. Vitality remains one of the highest-profile teams in the field, but the EWC group format has already shown that favorites cannot rely on reputation alone.

The losing team will not be eliminated. It instead drops into the lower bracket, where Lynn Vision awaits.

That makes Lynn Vision’s victory over TYLOO particularly important. The Chinese roster now knows that its next survival series will come against either Vitality or B8.

MOUZ and FUT compete on the other side

The second Group C upper match features MOUZ against FUT Esports.

Both teams won their opening games.

MOUZ defeated Lynn Vision 13-8 on Dust2, while FUT edged TYLOO 13-10 on Mirage.

The stakes mirror Vitality versus B8:

• The winner secures a direct playoff place
• The loser drops into the lower bracket
• PARIVISION and 100 Thieves fight separately to avoid elimination

Group C is therefore rapidly dividing into teams with guaranteed playoff positions and teams that will need to survive another best-of-three.

Group B also approaches its final decisions

Falcons and FaZe Clan have already secured playoff places through the upper side of Group B.

Falcons defeated Astralis 2-0, winning Ancient 13-7 and Dust2 13-11. FaZe also qualified with a 2-0 victory over Legacy.

That leaves the remaining teams fighting for two lower-bracket playoff spots.

NiP’s victory over BetBoom keeps them in contention, but Astralis now stands between them and qualification. K27 and MIBR.LOS are also scheduled to play an elimination series, with the winner moving on to face Legacy.

The format creates a simple final stage for the lower bracket: win one more series and reach the playoffs; lose and leave the Esports World Cup.

Assessment

Day three of the CS2 Esports World Cup is showing the value of the tournament’s double-elimination group structure.

NiP and Lynn Vision both recovered from opening defeats and now have another opportunity to reach the playoffs. BetBoom and TYLOO received no such second escape after losing their elimination matches.

The bigger test now comes against stronger opposition.

NiP must overcome Astralis, while Lynn Vision will face either Vitality or B8. Neither route is easy, but both teams have already accomplished the most important immediate objective: staying alive.

Meanwhile, the upper-bracket matches are beginning to define the genuine contenders. Falcons and FaZe have already secured their places, and Group C will soon add two more names.

With 16 playoff positions available from a 32-team starting field, the EWC group stage has reached the point where every best-of-three either confirms a contender or sends another team home.
