There is no doubt that if we hear the name Ian “Crimsix” Porter, we immediately think of the Call of Duty legend. Well, yes, the superstar and three-time world champion remain the biggest “winner” in CoD history.

This undoubtedly demonstrates his extraordinary impact on the Call of Duty competitive scene. This is why FaZe Clan’s announcement of incorporating him into their Sim Racing division is entirely unusual.

Crimsix joins FaZe Clan

The popular esports organization FaZe Clan announced the signing of Crimsix not as their Call of Duty player but as a member of their Sim Racing team.

Crimsix often referred to himself as the GOAT of Call of Duty in the competitive scene. He is actively retiring as a professional in 2022. At the end of his contract with the New York Subliners, he was not signed by any other team for 2023.

Since then, the Call of Duty legend has devoted himself entirely to content creation. We usually saw him playing Warzone 2 alongside other great content creators or professionals. On the other hand, he has also been present in different professional streams to give opinions about games and CDL itself.

Now, his future is more than far away from what had been his career until then. From an FPS game like Call of Duty, he will now focus on Sim Racing, two completely different esports.

Crimsix tries his luck in the Sim Racing world

After his successful career in the professional Call of Duty scene, Crimsix decides to put other directions in his future. Now, he will share with Lucas Mueller, Tim Jarschel, and Ulas Ozyildirim, the other three members of the FaZe Clan Sim Racing team, to participate in several tournaments this season.

And their debut in this new foray is not far off at all. FaZe Clan will compete in the ESL R1 Katowice, a tournament that will be played from February 11 to 12 this year. This tournament will see 12 teams and 48 pilots battle it out for the juicy $500,000 prize pool.

This tournament will take place in the new Rennsport game. This game is currently in its closed beta and is powered by Unreal Engine 5. Many members of the Sim Racing community see this video game as “the future of virtual racing.”

Interesting debut for Crimsix

There is no doubt that this will be an exciting tournament to see Crimsix’s skills behind a simulation steering wheel. The tournament will count on the participation of great teams such as G2 Esports and FURIA Esports, as well as great brands in the world of motorsports such as Mercedes-AMG, Porsche Coanda, and BMW M.
