Despite dominating NA Game Changers for the previous two years, Cloud9 White’s era is over—at least under the C9 banner.

All of the Cloud9 White players have become unrestricted free agents in the offseason as the organization prepares to begin the new season with a clean slate. Having been together since December 2020, Cloud9 White has dominated the North American Game Changers Scene ever since its inception.

Since the beginning of the North American Game Changers Series, they have won every single tournament, making them the most popular and consistent team of VCT Game Changers. However, Cloud9 White struggled at the Game Changers Championship in Berlin, losing to G2 Gozen and subsequently to Shopify Rebellion, a rival North American team.

XSET is considering the Cloud9 White duo for the 2023 VCT Game Changers

According to a report from Dot esports, XSET Purple has its sights set on two Cloud9 White players. After allowing its entire roster to explore other options earlier last month, XSET plans to rebuild around C9 White’s Bob Tran and Katja “katsumi” Pfahnl. Bob joined Cloud9 White in June 2022 after being a part of the Soniqs for around two years. Katsumi, on the other hand, was a member of Cloud9 White since its debut at the VCT.

XSET Purple was unable to establish itself during the 2022 VCT season. After losing to CLG Red in the Stage One North American VCT qualifier, XSET was unable to advance to the main event. XSET did succeed in securing a spot in the VCT Stage Three main event, but they fell short of the podium, placing fifth or sixth.

VersionX picks some pieces of the Cloud9 White roster

VersionX is set to rebuild around Game Changers superstar Melanie “meL” Campone and Alexis Guarrasi, according to reports from Dot esports. The organization is also reportedly planning to acquire one of the most promising players in the scene, Ava “florescent” Eugene, along with Nicole “Noia” Tierce, and Sarah Simpson.

While Florescent, who has a 1.55 K/D and a 205.5 ADR over the last three months, is one of the greatest players in the Game Changers scene, Noia and Sarah are the up-and-coming talents. Noia joined XSET Purple in March, but the team had trouble finding success. In the VCT Game Changers North America, they only made it to the main event once during the third season.

VersionX’s reported roster for the upcoming season:

  • Melanie “meL” Campone
  • Alexis Guarrasi
  • Ava “florescent” Eugene,
  • Nicole “Noia” Tierce
  • Sarah Simpson.
