Complexity have been able to move past OG Esports in the Decider Match of the European DreamHack Open Summer tournament. On two close maps, they managed to succeed and have now secured a spot in the playoffs bracket.

COMPLEXITY 2-0 OG ESPORTS

The headline makes it sound as though Complexity have dismantled OG. However, this wouldn’t be entirely correct. The two maps have indeed been incredibly close and with one two more rounds going OG’s way, we might have seen a different winning team.

OG Esports picked into Nuke, where they had recorded their highest win rate in recent months. Unfortunately, Complexity created a watertight defense and only let four rounds slip in the first half. However, this wasn’t the end for OG. Nuke is one of those maps where a terrorist team can get a way with winning few rounds, as the map is heavily CT-sided. So it came as no surprise when OG started to mount a comeback, which they carried to a 11-9 score line. Then, unfortunately, they stumbled and conceded a round to Complexity. This broke their momentum and gave their opponents a way back into the match. Despite the heroics of Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen, Complexity scraped past them with a 16-14 victory.

The second map, Mirage, was similarly close, but the stats actually tell a different story. None of the OG players were able to post a positive rating, Aleksib even dropped as low as 0.71! On the opposite side, Benjamin “blameF” Bremer stole the show and managed to shut down the OG offense every step of the way. While they were able to mount a convincing CT side, OG were soundly defeated on terrorist turf. They will now have to face forZe in the Decider Match for a spot in the playoffs.

POIZON CARRYING COMPLEXITY OVER THE FINISHING LINE

The Bulgarian AWPer has been the most impactful Complexity player in this affair, by far. Over the course of these two maps, Valentin “poizon” Vasilev has been able to secure 49 kills and a 1.39 rating. But he shouldn’t receive all the praise. The entire roster achieved positive figures, especially blameF has been a stellar performer considering his leading role in the team.

The player has posted amazing results in recent time. He has averaged a 1.29 rating over the course of the last three months. For an in-game-leader, this is an astonishing feat. Few manage to make decisions on such a complicated scale and still remain relevant fraggers in the roster.

With their current form, Complexity appear to be a legitimate contender for the title. They will have to face either Endpoint or Heroic in the semi-finals. This shouldn’t be too much of a challenge for the star-studded roster. After that, however, they will likely meet BIG Clan in the Grand Finals. The Germans have themselves had a successful few months. Right now, they occupy the number one spot in the HLTV world rankings, so Complexity will be put to the test. Their individuals are certainly capable of dismantling the world’s best players.
