There are 8 teams guaranteed a spot in the main tournament by default. The 4  have won major tournaments this season as well as the other teams in Top 8 of the ESL World Ranking.

How IEM Cologne 2024 Works?

IEM Cologne 2024 is a high-energy Counter-Strike tournament with a clear path to victory. Here’s breakdown of the format:

Play-In Stage: Teams fight in a double elimination round. They need to win best-of-three (Bo3) to leave. Only the top 8 teams that survive will go through the next Group Stage.

Group Stage: There are 2 groups with 8 teams each playing each other. To lose twice and get eliminated is a tough fight. Based on performance the best 3 teams from each group go through to the next round.

• Group winners automatically advance to the Semi Finals 
• The second-and third-place teams are in the Quarter Finals. 

 

Playoffs: The Playoffs is a single-elimination and only the winner will continue. The Semi Finals and Quarter Finals are best-of-3 games played during the initial 2 rounds. But the Grand Final is a major deal, a five-way fight to be crowned king!
