CoD – Toronto Ultra recalls entire roster ahead of 2022 CDL

The Toronto Ultra has announced that it is keeping its current Call of Duty roster for the 2022 Call of Duty League and beyond. With the Ultra having finished second in the regular CDL standings, before reaching the playoff finals, the news comes as no surprise. As a result, Tobias “CleanX” Juul Jonsson, Cameron “Cammy” McKilligan, Ben “Bance” Bance and Jamie “Insight” Craven will all represent the team through to 2023.

The organization broke the news via Twitter on Tuesday, with Toronto having joined the Atlanta FaZe and Minnesota RØKKR in keeping the same lineup going into the 2022 Call of Duty League season. This was perhaps expected, given the fact that the trio are the only teams to have won a championship during the 2021 campaign. Mark “MarkyB” Bryceland looks set to continue as head coach too, with the Scot having been instrumental in Toronto’s success, having joined the org in August 2019.

Why the Ultra named the exactsame roster from 2021

Despite a poor start to the 2021 season, the Ultra’s decision to replace Anthony “Methodz” Zinniwith “Insight” proved to be a masterstroke. Toronto was able to defeat the Atlanta FaZe Clan in order to win the Call of Duty League Stage Two Major back in April, before they went from mid table to one of the leading challengers. Methodz remains part of the Toronto Ultra setup at the moment, however the substitute could look for a new team, should he not be promised game time in the next season.

Can Toronto bring the Championship north of the border in 2022?

While it was ultimately Atlanta that defeated Toronto in the playoff final, it was the Torronto Ultra team who caused the FaZe the most problems this year. The final series was closely fought until the very end, with Atlanta eventually running out 5- 3 winners. However, there is a growing confidence that the championship will head north of the border in 2022.

The Toronto Ultra roster is one of the best teams in the league on paper, with the discipline of Insight and the talent of flex Cammy giving them a formidable AR duo. Meanwhile, CleanX’s aggressive style is well suited to Bance’s more thoughtful method. Although no start date for the 2022 Call of Duty League has been announced as of yet, Toronto Ultra’s fans will be confident that their team can go one better this time around. We’re looking forward to an exciting Call of Duty League 2022.
