Activision has confirmed that the DMZ mode will be released in November alongside Warzone 2 as free-to-play content.

The third game mode in Call of Duty’s most recent expansions has tended to be either Spec Ops or Zombies, but Warzone 2 is going to add a brand-new DMZ game mode. After months of speculations and leaks, Activision finally announced the long-awaited mode during Call of Duty Next. Players don’t need to own Modern Warfare 2 in order to play DMZ as Infinity Ward revealed that it will be available for free-to-play alongside Warzone 2.

Players will be able to access the new mode on November 16 with Warzone 2. Additionally, it is reported to just have a Solo mode at launch, with patches for Duos, Trios, and Quads coming later. DMZ mode is a multiplayer game mode that draws inspiration from Escape from Tarkov and is centered on intense action, looting, and hardcore missions.

With the evolved AI that Infinity Ward has created, the new mode will be played across the completely new Warzone 2.0 map Al Mazrah. The map will be heavily controlled by the AI, which will also be able to patrol, set up camp in strongholds and reinforce based on player actions. Players can choose which tasks and goals they want to accomplish in a DMZ match, or they can pursue a wide range of activities in the open world, according to Infinity Ward.

C.O.D.E. Bowl returns in December

Call of Duty will hold its third annual C.O.D.E. Bowl on December 16, which will be the biggest iteration of the event to date. The event will feature Military service members from the U.S. and U.K. in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War alongside streamers and professional players to fund veteran employment and job placement. While the event’s winner will get a shining trophy and a prestigious title, all competition proceeds will be donated to Endowment.

The Endowment identifies and funds the most effective organizations that place veterans in high-quality and well-paying full-time jobs. With Deloitte’s help and the support of numerous non-profit organizations in the US and the UK, Endowment is among the most effective military philanthropic organizations. While Endowment has reportedly benefited the US and the UK economies to the tune of $5.6 billion, Activision made a direct $40 million donation to the nonprofit.

In addition to raising funds for the Call of Duty Endowment, the C.O.D.E. Bowl aims to provide excellent esports action. Activision, the Endowment’s steadfast supporter, promises that C.O.D.E. III will be the largest iteration of the branch-spanning event to honor the organization’s astounding milestone of placing over 100,000 veterans in jobs.
