More and more games are being included to the Esports World Cup – among them, Call of Duty’s Modern Warfare III and Warzone.

In a post on LinkedIn, EWC CEO Ralf Reichert said, “By adding two amazing Call of Duty games to the Esports World Cup, we have cemented our promise to deliver the world’s best games to esports fans everywhere.”

“Call of Duty is the final piece of our historic EWC 2024 schedule, and we are excited to welcome its athletes and global fanbase to Riyadh this summer,” Reichert added.

The tournament format has also been revealed for both games.

For Modern Warfare III, there will be 16 teams in the group stage, of which there will be groups of 4 with 4 teams each competing in a double elimination format with matches going best-of-5s. The top 2 of each group will be advancing to the playoffs. With the last 8 teams moving on to the final, matches will be played in a single-elimination, best-of-5 format with the final match being a BO7. The winner will receive US$600,000 in prize money – the lion’s share of the US$1.8 Million prize pool.

Meanwhile, for Warzone, matches will be played on the Resurgence mode and will have a prize pool of US$1,000,000.

The solo seeding stage will see individuals split into three groups, of which 4 maps will be played in total. Individuals will combine their scores to determine their group stage seeding, of which there will be 21 teams comprised of 3 groups (A, B, and C). Each group will play a total of 8 maps, and the Top 14 will advance to the Grand Finals stage.

8 maps will also be played at the Grand Finals, of which the 14 teams will play for placement. The winner will get US$200,000 – the lion’s share of the prize pool.

The Esports World Cup is part of Saudi Arabia’s National Gaming and Esports Strategy. “The Esports World Cup is the natural next step in Saudi Arabia’s journey to become the premier global hub for gaming and esports, offering an unmatched esports experience that pushes the boundaries of the industry. The competition will enhance our progress towards realizing the Vision 2030 objectives of diversifying the economy, growing the tourism sector, creating new jobs in various industries, and providing world-class entertainment for citizens, residents, and visitors alike,” said Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
