Cloud9 White win fifth Game Changers title

The third series of the 2022 VCT Game Changers North America has concluded, with Cloud9 White winning the trophy and reclaiming its throne by defeating Shopify Rebellion by a score of 3-0.

Cloud9 White have secured their fifth game Changers title after sweeping Shopify Rebellion 3-0 in the grand finals of North American VCT Game Changers. The undisputed Valorant queens of North America appeared invincible in series three, slaying every opponent mercilessly throughout the event without dropping a single map.

Everyone knew Shopify Rebellion’s challenge in the grand final series was immense as they were going up against the most successful team of NA Game Changers. It wasn’t by any means an impossible task, though, as Shopify Rebellion had already stolen a series off of C9 in the past. However, Shopify crumbled under strain as the top two NA Game Changers teams faced off against each other.

The team remained undefeated thanks to Katja “katsumi” Pfahnl’s spectacular play, which was built upon Jasmine “Jazzyk1ns” Manankil’s firepower and shrewd judgment and leadership skills of team’s fierce in-game leader Melanie “meL” Capone. Even the newest addition to the team, Bob “Bob” Tran, who prefers playing as more of a support player, displayed impressive fragging skills.

The NA rivalry will return in November on a global stage

Shopify Rebellion has been chasing C9 more closely than any other NA team in Game Changers. Before the most recent Game Changer Series three, the underdog team had dropped several championship games to C9W.

In July 2022, Shopify Rebellion finally defeated C9W 2-1 in the Game Changer series two final and became the North American champions for the first time. However, this time around Cloud9 were unstoppable as they cleaned sweep their biggest rival and regained their VCT dominance.

It was already clear that Cloud9 White and Shopify Rebellion would attend the Game Changers Championship Berlin before the match even started. C9W will enter the event as the fan favorite, while Shopify Rebellion will enter the event as the clear-cut runner-up after finishing second to C9 in four North American Game Changers tournaments.

Both teams will represent North America on the global stage where the best teams from all over the world will contend for significant prize money as well as the first-ever Valorant world champions title. The two teams will go to Berlin in November for the Game Changers competition together with the other regional representatives, who have not yet been named. The final three days of the event, from November 18 to 20, will include a live audience at the LEC studio in Berlin.
