After several weeks, the novel of the VALORANT lineup of the North American organization Cloud9 has been finalized. Finally, they have published their five players that will play the VCT Americas 2023.

Cloud9 has been in the community’s spotlight for the past few weeks, especially from their fans, after the team failed to exceed the expectations of the VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paulo 2023. Then, the organization decided to release two players who are undoubtedly considered among the best in the scene.

Cloud9 announces VALORANT roster for VCT Americas 2023

Last Monday, March 27, Cloud9 announced the signing of Dylan “runi” Cade and Jake “jakee” Anderson to complete its VALORANT lineup for VCT Americas 2023. According to the public database of NA region player contracts, runi and jakee are under contract with Cloud9 through the end of 2025.

This announcement was one of the most anticipated by the NA VALORANT community. After the departure of Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker and Anthony “vanity” Malaspina, the team was embroiled in rumors about which players they would be considering signing after the departure. Following the announcement, some in the community have expressed different emotions, as yay was the best VALORANT player in the world in 2022.

But who are runi and jakee?

Now, leaving aside the topic of yay and Vanity, we must focus on the team’s new signings, runi and jakee.

First, we must highlight runi, a player with experience in the VALORANT pro scene since the game’s launch, as the American player was the IGL of Susquehanna Soniqs. However, in January 2023, runi was released by the Soniqs after the team failed to qualify for the NA Challengers League.

Because of his almost three years of experience with Soniqs, runi will most likely take over the IGL role from Cloud9, which Vanity has left.

On the other hand, we have jakee, a player who has only played in the VALORANT college league for the University of St. Thomas. In his most recent record, we can see that he was one of his team’s best players in winning the College VALORANT: South – Winter Tournament.

Despite having success in his recent tournaments, it is unlikely that shortly jakee will be able to supplant a player like yay in the C9 lineup.

This will be a great test for these two players in their first foray into the top competitive level, especially for jakee, who has a complicated mission to cover for a VALORANT giant like yay.

With their lineup complete and announced, Cloud9 are preparing for their VCT Americas debut next Sunday, April 2, 2023, when they take on Evil Geniuses.
