After nearly 2 years of displaying dominance in the VCT Game Changers scene, Cloud 9 White, an all-women team for Cloud 9, has now been officially disbanded.

In the official goodbye video posted on the team’s channel, the organization expressed its gratitude to players for the impact they’ve left on the scene and for the triumphs achieved while playing under Cloud 9’s banner.

The team was made up of Alexis “alexis” Guarrasi, Jasmine “Jazzyk1ns” Manankil, Katja “katsumi” Pfahnl, Bob “Bob” Tran, and Melanie “meL” Capone.

Mutual agreement

The team’s IGL meL expressed her gratitude to the organization on Twitter along with some details about the roster’s disbandment. Addressing the rumors, she stated that the contract had run its course and they were not “dropped” by the organization, clearing the air for both the team and the organization.

Both the players and the organization reportedly reached a mutual agreement. Even though they were offered a contract renewal by the organization, the team has decided to explore new options.

Jazzyk1ns also published a Twitter post expressing her gratitude to the organisation for giving her and her teammates a chance to represent them.

Cloud9 White’s journey

Before Cloud 9 signed them back in October of 2020, the team was originally known as MAJKL. When Riot Games debuted VCT Game Changers in March 2021, Cloud 9 White quickly established themselves as the top-tier team in the NA region.

Even though the team has been disbanded now, Cloud9 White leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered and difficult to overcome. They won six NA VCT Game Changers Championships in 2021 and in 2022, they won three more NA VCT Game Changers Championships and secured multiple top finishes both at top-tier and low-tier events. However, the team fell short to their resilient rivals Shopify Rebellions at VCT 2022: Game Changers managing to place 4th.

Now with Cloud 9 White members being free agents, there are a couple of North American organizations that have been keeping an eye out to potentially secure the former C9 White talent.

Version X is reportedly in talks to secure the duo of meL and Alexis as the organisation aims to establish itself on the scene in the following season. Meanwhile, Bob and katsumi are reportedly in talks with XSET Purple. Jazzyk1ns also plans to continue competing, according to her Twitter statement.

Whatever the future holds, one thing is for certain — the former Cloud9 White squad has left behind a legacy as one of the best and most impactful NA teams in the history of female VALORANT.
