After the conclusion of the 2022 VCT season, reports and rumors revolving around player transfers naturally started circulating around the internet. As the rumors intensified, Riot Games introduced the 30 teams that were included in the Valorant partnership for the 2023 VCT season.

This started an intense roster mania on the Valorant esports scene, with many teams doing their moves before Riot’s roster deadline is up. To address the rumors surrounding their team, Cloud9 dropped a video on Twitter, announcing their full Valorant line-up for the 2023 VCT season.

The video starts off by introducing part of the old Cloud9 roster. Anthony “Vanity” Malaspina has returned for his third season with the org along with Erick “Xeppaa” Bach and Nathan “Leaf” Orf, creating a solid foundation going into the new season.

The pinnacle of the video came when the speculations and rumors became a reality, as Cloud9 confirmed their signing of OpTic Gaming’s star duelist Jaccob “Yay” Whiteaker. The video also shows the return of one of Cloud9’s former CS:GO players Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro as he will be joining the org’s Valorant squad.

C9 sings one of the best Valorant players Yay

Yay is currently considered one of the best players in Valorant, and he has proved his reputation again and again with his impressive mechanical skills during matches. His positioning always seems to be impeccable across all maps.

Nevertheless, his individual prowess on the French Agent Chamber also played a crucial factor in OpTic Gaming’s success last season. Due to his individual prowess, the NA juggernaut won Masters 1 in Reykjavik, finished third place at Masters 2 in Copenhagen and had a second-place finish at Valorant Champions 2022 in Istanbul.

Zellsis explains why he chose Cloud9 over Sentinels

Zellsis is the final player that rounds up Cloud9’s Valorant roster. The former Cloud9 CS:GO player represented the NA organization between 2018-2019 and during this time, he has proven that he can be a solid foundation for the teams he plays for, with his stellar mechanical skills and great decision-making in the crucial moments.

He is known for his Kay/O play and it is speculated that going into the 2023 season, Cloud9 are willing to make this a key component in the team’s game strats. It was also confirmed that former The Guards coach Matthew “mCe” Elmore will be joining the team for the 2023 VCT season.

Here’s Cloud9’s full Valorant roster for 2023 VCT:

  • Anthony “Vanity” Malaspina (IGL)
  • Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro
  • Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker
  • Erick “Xeppaa” Bach
  • Nathan “leaf” Orf
  • Matthew “mCe” Elmore (Coach)

Due to Cloud9 falling short of expectations in the 2022 VCT season, their fans are hoping that the newcomers will bring a winning mentality to the team. It seems that Cloud9 now might have all the fragments they need to address the challenges that lie on the horizon.
